Jason,
so what did they say about the belts and plugs?
or is that an epic.

it's an epic, the abbreviated version:
OEM = good, CA Cycleworks = unknown
Plugs = some nimrod (me) didn't have them in quite tight enough, and you know what they say about making sure your plugs are tight!
Will make a good yarn when we catch up, maybe at the Island....
cheers Jason

i dont care if you have been a mechanic for 10 years doing something for a long time does not make you good at it, take my gf for an example shes been walking for 28 years and still manages to fall over all the time.

not to sidetrack too much, but can i ask how much you paid for the belts including postage? i got a quote a while back from them, and i think the postage blew the savings on OEM belts out of the water

Mine has CA Cycleworks belts.
Brad Black brings them in I believe and if they are good enough for him to use then I am happy.
Mine were done by D-Moto.

no they did not poo poo them - just they did not know much about them! They happily fitted them and just asked for me to come back at 5000km so as to check the tension. Which I still think is good service as they want to ensure they are ok!

Goldfish actually did a bulk order and got them in for me - $128AU all up!

yeah like I said these guys didn't know much about them, that is all. I will know in 5000km whether they are good, bad, or otherwise! Put it this way haven't seen a bad review!

Brad brings in the Exactfit belts. I just had a set fitted on my recent 24,000 klm service (S4Rt). Very happy with the service and the extra bits Brad did. Great communication as well

Yeah good call sticky them up. Maybe add polls next to them to see where everyone gets there bikes done. Im always on the search for "better" service. As we all are. A couple on that sydney list I have been burnt by. Not that I wanna slag the bad, but I wanna praise the good if you get my drift.
As a newbie, i wouldnt mind having this poll feature available... just to know where most ppl go to...
my 2 cents..

Options in Tassie are somewhat limited.
I get my belts and valves done by Ross Allison. 03 63447871. 25 Wilmot Street, South Launceston.
He will be doing my 30k service next week on my way to PI.
The other option is Sportsrider who are Tassies only Ducati dealers. 03 63319913. 31 Tamar street, Launceston. Have bought some parts there but not had anything serviced. Andy is the man to ask for there.
By now you will see the trend. Hobart must be the only capital city without a Duc dealer or dedicated mechanic. For some reason they congregate in Launceston.

Italian electric's
Good story little bit bad story
Had my second (brake) micro switch fail in a couple of months,
rear then front.
Anyone else had this happen?
Lucky all under warranty(just) and props to Carl of Northside Motorcycles Artamon replaced both on the spot
no waiting no drama grabbed a spanner fella from the workshop , then straight on it.
Pretty good service really considering I have never spent a cent there on service
after purchasing the bike from him two years ago.
He did say that he has never had anything major go wrong with a 620ie or 695ie
other than small glitches

I was happy with the help I received from Bob at V2 motorcycles (Ducati Brisbane), but the new mechanic has put my nose out of joint on a couple of issues, so I won't be going back unless I really have too, or they get someone good in there.
I'll give Alex at LAE racing a go. It's a long way out of my way (I have to ride past two Ducati dealers to get to him) but worth it if he is as good as everyone says.
the mechanic put your nose out of joint but you were happy with bob?
that's a new one!
Alex will do the right thing by you, not the flashiest workshop around but he knows his shit!
paul.
p.s, i've ridden to and now past every ducati dealer in brisbane, used to use eurotwins religiously, (just as good as alex, but closer to home) except for dyno work and race fab stuff, for that i used LAE, and i won't ever let a dealership touch my bike again.
