Anyone add fairings to a Monster?

Okay- so the answer is yes.

On the Duc Cutters website, I saw a Monster to Superbike conversion. Not exactly what I had in mind, but interesting concept, none the less.

A Sport Classic fairing would probably be ideal for a more retro faired look, as it's lines look like they would complement the angular, yet softly curved tank of the Monster. I have to say, comparing my SS tank and the Monster tank, the SS tank looks almost like a loaf of bread in spots, whereas the Monster tank is just a great shape.

Raux- I like your concept, and it is amongst the contenders for where I am going with mine.

Motomonster- I almost bought one of those fairings (Bultaco Metralla), but instead got the Thruxton that is currently on my bike. It looks a lot similar to one somebody is selling, and it's shown on a SV650. www.caferace.com has this piece, and they say (oddly enough) that it's based on an old 750SS.

its actually not hard; welded tabs onto frame made a front clamp to hold a vortex999 fairing bracket the tail is a 00-02 R6 piece and the bodywork was bought from yoyodyne.  which is the best fitting race bodywork i've ever bought.  the only problem is that the bottom flops a little at speed so its saftywired to the pipes and burnt through in a few spots.  luckly belly pans are cheep.  fwiw that bike will have the CRA #7 on it next season.

That looks amazing... so you took the Vortex 999 fairing bracket, and then purchased a set of Ducati 999 fairings and slapped it on?  Outside of welding on the tabs for the Vortex 999 fairing bracket, did you need any other modifications?

it requires a little fairing cutting so that the bars can turn and the gages can fit under the screen and some simple mocking up for wheel clearence its all in all pretty easy.  i will say that the fairing adaptor bracket is the most tech thing because you need it machined so that it clamps around the headtube then a tab is welded to the clamp so the fairing bracket can attach. my teammate did the hard work of welding and clamp faberacation, he's the brains behind the bike, I just ride it[bacon]

Tell me more about the R6 seat. DO you use ANY of the stock seat? DId you use the one-piece seat and put foam on that? DO you think I could adapt a road seat for use with the R6 seat? BTW- I LOVE the way the R6 seat looks on your steed!!!

its just a 02 R6 race tail with the sides cut off and i made a bracket that bends around and screws into the stock monster seat via the cowl screw holes on the bottom.  I made some little sides for the front of the tail hump with fiberglass sanded it down and mounted it up.  it flopped alittle so i filled it with expanding foam.  It holds up well, its been crashed on each side and flipped once.  stock monster seat with R6 tail hump no other parts than a little fiberglass and elbow greese.  it would work on a street monster because the light still would be in the same spot and there is plenty of clearence for the light under the seat.  I think.

I may draw flames here, but the Duc cowl just leaves me a bit cold. I don't hate it, but there's someting I don't quite like about it.

I may end up doing a different tail light with this tail. But I am thinking at least the exhaust won't make the seat look so stumpy if I used this tail...
