Ready to ride

« on: June 08, 2008, 03:21:26 PM »

So I rode to Foothill College today to see the California Youth Symphony play. I parked in the motorcycle parking and got a citation for not having a parking voucher stuck to my MC. How the heck are you supposed to stick a parking voucher to a MC? Anyone can drive up and help themselves. I asked the parking police guy and he basically said it was my problem. I will contest the ticket. If I don't win I won't lose sleep over a $35 fine. $35 is a couple of fill-ups at the gas station though (at least this week).

It's a similar deal with those neighborhood "Area X" parking stickers attached to a piece of cardboard and hung from fenders on bikes.  Those stickers are ginormous, not to mention ugly.

...And if they expect me to attach a Fastrak onto my bike they gotta be smokin' crack, too.

They're all examples of weird "practicality" issues that affect us bikes.  I saw a metermaid struggling to give a motorcycle a parking ticket for not having the appropriate sticker on his bike once.  It was windy and he struggled to find a way to put the ticket on the bike.  It kept blowing off because there wasn't a good spot for it.  Ahh....the irony.   Roll Eyes

When I go to a pay garage where there is a receipt I have to stick on my bike, I usually stick half of it between my seat and tank (assuming it is big enough) and leave the other half sticking out for them to see.

It's not a great solution but it's the best I've come up with so far. Undecided

I think it is definitely worth contesting.

Tell them it's their problem, they should have a ziptie type of parking permit for cycles.

When I take classes at the college they have a Ziptie like permit with the number on it and every thing. (The Zip tie is the permit) Just ziptie it to the handlebar.

I just sent in my remarks to contest the ticket. It's so stupid. I'm not a student. I was just there for a 1.5 hour event. Oh well. We'll see what happens. I'm not expecting sympathy from who decides my fate. LOL, fate. Sounds like the end of the world.
