Maybe I'm a little impatient, maybe this is poor planning but I can't get a new seat that isn't shipped from Italy with an unknown date of arrival.

Just really venting, since this isn't much a surprise.   

I have a ride planned with some buddies.  So far the plan is to do a little over 800 miles in 3 days.  I was trying to mitigate some of the pain with a sorta last minute seat purchase.

Anyone have any ideas where I could find a  DP gel seat for a 2001 monster  by next weekend?

So basically this has nothing to do with the year or make of the bike...it's just a parts procurement headache, primarily of your own doing.   

Try Ebay, CL or start calling around the various dealers.  Otherwise I'd consider investing in a pair of good cycling shorts to wear under your leathers and a Costco sized bottle of Advil.  Sounds like a fun trip other than the booty issue!

Most sporting goods stores carry somewhat heavily padded bicycle shorts for around $50. Maybe not a bad idea if the seat doesn't work out?

Or just try a sheepskin.  Alaska Leather sells them.

The shorts, I have. At least something close from Aerostich.  Those helped on the last big ride I did.  Honestly I wish I have gone with regular bike shorts. The padding can be found much thicker than the pair I have.

The sheepskin is a great idea.  I hadn't heard of those.

A gallon sized jug o pain killers is a necessity on this trip for a number of reasons. 

Still going to look for a seat. I pretty sure that every little bit helps.  As long as I'm not sliding around through corners.  Thanks for all the ideas everyone and keep em coming.

The duc gel seat is kinda too grippy really-it also gets hot as hell in the sun.

Fack-I did plenty of miles on the stock seat-800 miles in three days shouldn't be a big deal.

I just did +/-600 miles in two days on a stock seat.  Of all things on me that were complaining, my ass wasn't one of them.

Really??  This is the 2nd trip of this length this year, and my ass is always killing me.  I have an hour commute and I suffer to a lesser degree there.

Maybe I just need to man up, put on my spandex padded shorts, and ride.   [moto]

It's not a macho thing--if your ass is a pain in your ass then do what you need to do.  It sounded like you were thinking it might be a problem but weren't sure.  I got rid of a nice Corbin and went back to the stock seat because it was more comfortable.  I'm also a huge pansy.  30 miles on the freeway and I need a break, so you won't find me casting stones.

I did the same ride on a goddamn KTM Supermoto.

I complained like a little girlie-man, but i survived.

Yeah, one of my buddies is doing the trip on a KTM Superduke.  I won't be the only one walking funny.

I have a nice Corbin and it makes the but hurt go away. The trade off is that it's about an inch lower so now my legs hurt more from being all scrunched up. So I would recommend going with the Corbin. The hurt is better.

You could always take your stock seat in to a seat shop and have them make something from the pan.  I had this done on an old Honda and it was fit to me.
