Fox marks, renamed x-marks is an add on application to you browser that lets you synchronize all of your Bookmarks (or favorites) with all of the browsers that you use. Like the one at work, your lap top the old computer in the den, whatever. If you add a new book mark on your lap top it shows up on the PC at work for instance, or on your Mac at home. It started out just doing sync on Firefox, Thus Fox Marks, and later working with I.E. Chrome & Safari, Thus the rename to X- Marks.

I put the Short version link above. http://www.xmarks.com/about/shutdown

Pretty similar.

I will probably go with this. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/sync/
After they work some of the Bugs out. The reviews aren't so good.

Ahks

my linux box and both my windows machines run xmarks for a total of 2 installs of IE, 3 chrome and 3 FF. All using xmarks to keep my BM's synced across them.

This is gonna be a PITA :( I guess I'll go poke @ delicious

It's like I keep saying:  Those who would sacrifice a free range session for a giant beer, deserve neither free range time nor a giant beer.

Delicious?

Doesn't that do the same thing?

not exactly... delicious is more of an online social repository for bookmarks, while x-marks iss a cross-browser synchronization tool.

i'd use x-marks to keep browsers on my 3 home machines and two work machines in sync.

here are the services/products that they "recommend":  http://www.xmarks.com/about/shutdown

and here is the solution i'll most likely implement (especially if somebody makes it work on safari and ie):  http://lifehacker.com/5651152/how-to-continue-syncing-bookmarks-with-xmarks-on-your-own-server?skyline=true&s=i

Yeah, I sync bookmarks across 5 computers running 3 different operating systems and multiple browsers per computer using Xmarks.

Firefox Sync seems to work just fine for me, but does nothing to sync a bookmark change in Firefox with Chrome.

I'll probably have to set up a private server.
