Govenator signs SB 435. Is that it for aftermarket pipes?

Looks like Arnold signed SB 435.  Anyone know if that's the final final? Or is there any way this won't actually be the end of aftermarket pipes for us in CA come 2013?

Probably not:

QuoteThe law, which goes into effect for motorcycles and aftermarket parts from the 2013 model year forward

And:

Quotemotorcyclists pulled over for other traffic violations could also be cited for illegally noisy exhaust pipes.

This seems to be the same as it is now. Of course, when LEOs go on a revenue hunt I'm sure they'll use this.

I haven't read the text of the bill yet and am only operating off what the story says.

It means that when there is a crackdown, they'll have one other thing to cite you for.  So, if you leave your 2013 or later bike completely stock except for a pipe and they don't have reasonable suspicion that you've done anything wrong , law enforcement technically can't pull you over for just the pipe.  'course, that's not how it plays out in real life.  Articulating a reason to pull someone over isn't that difficult, and once they've got you stopped, it's fair game.

TCK!

Why balance budgets when you can spend time figuring out a way to fine/tax/take from the people?

Why fix problems when you can just have others bandage them.

Arnold is the biggest push over waste of space we've had in office. Arnold you can't make everyone happy. Grow a pair, step on some toes.

Don't you people have a motorcycle lobby in California? You guys need better representation over there.

We do. They're called the AMA. They used to run a racing series.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.
