Monster City bars +Sargent seat work well for me..
«

Wanted to raise my bars a bit and not use risers, installed Monster city bars and like the position...however the slope of the stock seat became doubly annoying with higher bars to the point I'd only take it for short rides...so finally broke down and bought a Sargent seat (had been resisting for a year since it is waaay overpriced IMHO). Anyway, the combo works great, love the flat seat and the bike now seems a good bit taller and roomier...in stock form it felt like a 3/4 scale MC to me but I'm tall w/ long legs...might be a good option for others that feel cramped on a stock Monster.

I did a similar move on my 620, but using bar risers instead of the City Bars. I'm 6', and never cared much for the original seat, but higher bars and the Sargeant seat made for a much more comfortable ride.

The most comfortable permutation for me is Sargent seat and suburban machinery bars. I've recently refitted the stock seat and find myself waaaay too cramped in the knees to be comfortable.

FWIW just did a 3 day/900 mile tour with the new setup and it worked great, was at least as comfortable touring as I've been on BMW R and K bikes

hey Vic, are those bags mounted backwards?
How would you rate them for a 3 day trip. I'm in the market to finally replace the Ecplise P-38's I've been using for the past 7 years.

cool, they look about the right size for a Monster with low pipes too. Do they come with raain covers and if so, how well do those work?

they did come w/ rain covers but have not needed them yet...avoid rain like the plague due to the #@*&^%$# immobiliser (plan to disable it soon)

So riding in the rain means the immobilizer will not allow the bike to start?

it can if water gets in the notoriously poorly sealed gauges which contain the immobilizer circuitry, many have had this happen and had to buy new guages, a search will show lotsa posts on the matter...so far if they have gotten wet I've resorted to taking the gauges off the bike, opening them up, and putting them in a sealed container with some rice (works well as a dessicant) and been OK but that is a real PITA

did a couple hundred miles on the old m900 today and canNOT wait for my sargent seat to get here! the stock seat feels like the sharp end of a log splitter covered by a gel pad in the heat. squishy and ripping my ass bones apart

still think it is "waaay overpriced" after using it and experiencing the lack of butt fatigue?
