ok, i know a few of you have Audi's. If you also have an iPhone, I could use some input.

my dad recently got an 07 A4, with a stock Symphony stereo. he wants to be able to make and receive calls through the stereo with his iPhone, as well as listen to music (from the iPhone.)

some quick research makes it look as though he is out of luck unless he replaces the stereo. Also, he is not interested in a stand alone blue tooth set up. he wants the calls to rout through the stereo.

i already suggested ditching the iPhone.. [evil]

anyone care to chime in?

I was looking at these the other day for a non-Audi.  This will take care of the audio part, but not the phone call part

Here's another (expensive) option.  Requires factory navigation...

This one takes care of phone only

I think the problem is going to be a microphone.  I would personally recommend a separate bluetooth headset (this one in particular) plus some kind of stereo integration (not FM-tuner based).

i was just looking at the products from www.Parrot.com

some possibilities there...

I suppose you can do anything, but it will not be plug and play or cheap.

well, audi quoted him something over 1k for the stock "upgrade" stereo that does what he wants, so anything south of that should be in the right direction.

We use the mobridge stuff on the porches. Works well but pricey.

looks like mobridge is using the parrot technology + it requires the premium audi sound system (with NAV) which my dad does not have.

If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

The parrot stuff will do what you want

however the audio sound quality will not be as good over Bluetooth as compared to direct wire

the high end parrot is around $500 installed

I have something similar in B6 S4 but abandoned it as I listen primarily to Sirius.

It works well.
