Summer Jackets
«

Can anybody recommend a good summer jacket? I did a quick search but couldn't find anything and am a lazy [insert adjective] so started a new thread.
I live in the Newcastle area, so temperatures only get up to high 30's. I've got winter gear so don't need to worry about it being all season. I'm also quite a slim build, so struggle to find smaller sizes - 48 seems to be the smallest on shelves and is probably a touch too big. Ideally I'd prefer leather, or part leather. Safety is important. I just do road riding.
So far I've looked at the Riv'it Ignition and Berik Veyron. I prefer the styling of the Berik but find it a bit too dark. I like a lot of the Dianese stuff, but can't find a retailer that stocks much of it and am not sure which of their jackets are most suitable for Australian summer riding.
What do people wear and where did you buy it? Are you happy with it?
Thanks

It's a bit of a hard question to answer.
If I simply list the gear I wear;
Shift two piece which is very patchy with leather and synthetic in the jacket.
Dainese full leather jacket no perforations.
Synthetic Spyke jacket
It's kinda like buying a helmet you might like the look of something but then it might not fit your head.
As to finding a Dainese retailer, I mostly go to MCAS, they might not keep many smaller sizes in stock but
I did get a them to get me a 46 in dianese which wasn't a problem.

I ended up buying a Rev'it Ignition, in 48 (BikeBiz - Sydney $599.95). I haven't worn it on the road yet, but compared to trying on other jackets in the shop felt very cool. I would have preferred a little more colour (it is all black) but am happy that it is armoured and has leather in all the places I could envision skin coming off in a fall.

I don't think that Bonds do anything in leather that i can think of Baz.....maybe a tailor could help.........
........on a more serious (slightly) note.....nothing will be overly cool in 30degs heat.......that is when i just lower the zipper on my dainese or ixon leather jacket.

My first ride in the new jacket. According to the Met Office it was about 27 degrees, so not yet really hot. The Ignition was great whilst moving, especially with the arm vents opened. At the lights it was still warmer than I would like but not unbearably so. I've got no plans on crash testing but I felt safer than most of the bikers I passed, in their t-shirts and shorts.

In Summer I wear a Dririder textile mesh type jacket with lots of top quality armour added, including a back protector. This is for very hot days, like on Black Saturday (47 deg C) when the glue in my helmet melted out of the vents!
Living in Melbourne, I have a super dooper Winter jacket, Autum/Spring jacket and bushfire day mesh jacket.

I went to frasers yesterday for the 50% off apparell sale and picked up one of those ducati motardish jackets with the removable lining which looks like it will breath very well through the mesh sort of stuff.
Picked it up for about $300. Thought that was pretty reasonable for a Dainese Jacket.
Will let you know what i think

The what now?
Wish I had have known.
A bunch of us picked up the same style jacket during the NFI sale.
Great quality (Dainese) and wery light without the liner... on a winner there I think Cakeman.

Hi. I’m Troy McClure. You may remember me from such self-help tapes as “Smoke Yourself Thin” and “Get Some Confidence, Stupid!”
NYTimes: "...highlights of his global tour include encounters with Nelson Mandela, an 800-year-old demigod and a dildo collector."
