I'm damn near as tough as I am stupid.

I've posted these pic's a few times but never in the accesories/mods section. Figured I show off my skillz with the Dremel tool.

This is the stock set up.

I sliced, I diced I scratched it up good. Bring on the primer !!!

Ahh...a little paint makes everything better!!

Doesn't that look pretty sweet!!

A little close up!!

I am not a pro at painting or metal work and a Dremel was not the ideal tool for the job. That paint that appears to match so well is a very exclusive brand known mysteriously as "KRYLON". I got it at a secret location known as "WAL-MART" I put a nice clear coat on it to keep it from looking fugly in the future.

Total cost about 15 bucks (not including the bike). Don't rush me with orders just yet as I have to buy about a hundred of those little fiberglass cutting wheels for my mototool. If anyone wants any hints or tips I'll be glad to tell them where I messed up. Drinking a bunch of beer while I did it is not going to be step one (maybe step five or six after hopeless frustration sets in).

I know the cut isn't perfectly straight. See above disclaimer about my qualifications to work in metal and paint. I'm sure a few diehards around here have had to see these pic's before but I can't help showing my baby off!!

Thanks for looking.

As a side not I took of the big rubber gasket and punched out the brass spacers. I used these to stand the cover off the bike just a tad. This vent's it a little more and allows water to drain out.

Very witty narration waytogo. I think the tricolor paint job matches well.

Did you find that the slit you cut combined w/removing the gasket lets that gloious "kachinka-chinka-chinka" out?

It definetly lets out the sound. Not as much as some of the really open ones but...still pretty obvious.

Thank's for the compliments. Smiley

I've a question not related to your topic, but how many miles you've on it?  The bottom of your motor etc. is all very clean.  I've 2800 on my S2R1k and it is def. not as grease/oil free as yours.  If you clean it often, what are you using?

I've got about 1800 miles on it as of right now. I'm pretty good at keeping it clean. I came from Harley's before this !!
If it's really dirty or it's been wet I do a full wash and detail. In between I use an instant detailer, I really try to keep the nooks and crannies cleaned because it makes it easy to see if it's leaking anything. It also keeps it from building up and getting really hard to remove. Right now I'm using eagle one spray detailer. I do the instant detail once a week or so. Full wash every other unless it's been bad weather.
