Non-OEM oil filters, where do you buy?

Sadly there are no good dealerships withing at least 50mi of my place and I think I'm overdue for an oil change. I'm guilty of keeping crappy maintenance records and checking things on feel. "I think it's about time for an oil change. I don't think I've done one since the last time I've been home" and that kinda crap.  [roll]

Anyway, I know that I was the last one to do my oil change and not Speeddog since I use K&N filters and he doesn't. I can't remember where I got my last filter and there are almost no bike stores around me. Went down to Autozone and had to special order the KN-153 I wanted.

Where do you guys get your oil filters? As an after thought, if I'm gonna wait 3 days for the special order to arrive I could have just ordered one online.

I'd mail-order a Ducati OEM.  I know lots of people run the K&N's and the resuable ones, but at this point I border on superstition with the OEM and Motul.

Where?
Best bet is to check craigslist. Amsoil is either sold by dealers or people that are just trying to qualify for a Preferred Customer membership.  They have to buy $100 worth of products a year to keep getting the wholesale price.
I used to have a guy that would sell it to me for his wholesale price but he moved.  So I need to find another.  Some will discount but most are trying to make profit off of selling it.  Which I don't really blame them.

I've been using K&N's lately, so I *may* have done the last oil change.

There's a Cycle Gear in SLO, they're pretty good about having the K&N's:

There are a number of good Ducati dealers that are more than happy to take phone orders and send you what you need.  Ducati Seattle and Salt Lake Motorsports are two that I know of.  I would order one from a dealer like that before trusting an aftermarket oil filter.  The genuine Ducati filters aren't all that expensive.

I had to pay $21 for one Duc OEM filter once, at a local dealer. That's pretty ridiculous. I believe there was a thread posted where somebody cut open various filts and it was determined that Fram was the only one you didn't want to use. When you can buy
HiFloFiltros + a new crush washer for an even $10 from Desmotimes, why bother with the OEM? Use whatever, just stay away from the Fram. Your bike will not know the difference. Changing your oil on time I would think is more important. I used to be really picky about that stuff with all the vehicles I have owned and it took me a while to realize I was wasting my money for the most part. After you find out which products to stay away from then you can begin saving yourself money and hassle.
