Ok...sorry, but I need some help with the forum lingo...what the heck is... wt: and be:: oh yea...my favorite...
;:\ (why the backslash you ask)...because my keyboard doesnt have a straight line  [bang]...seriously, this is as bad as trying to figure out what the kids are saying on thier text messages!
Having said all of this, I realize that I am slightly retarded when it comes to anything dealing with computers, so any help would be greatly appreciated, and most of all so that I stop thinking that this...  ;:| (ha...whatda ya know...I have the straight line after all!)  is a bull or a cow!

Very good thank you!  I still am having a bit of trouble finding out what some of the forum quirks are though.

NAKID

The stuff you see there is from the original forum smilies. They changed the code to make them to something more recognizable to most former DMLers...

I think with the changes in smilie icons and the updates of the DMF, the way to get little smilies to pop up in our messages has changed.

For example, when you click on the thumbsup icon  [thumbsup] for the thumbsup smilie  [thumbsup] it automatically types {thumbsup} in the text of the message. This information makes the smilie pop up in the text when somebody reads it. It used to type ":wt" which would be seen as  [thumbsup] by readers. It's changed now, but all the old posts that had :wt in the text are still there.

It's just code for a smilieface that doesn't work anymore...

From what I can tell anyway...   ;D

Since the original question has already been answered, I just figured I'd throw out there that the actual name for the vertical line character is "pipe".

Understand now....Thank you for the info on the smileys!  Makes a little more sense...I just hope that this... ;:| wasn't a bull smiling...I don't know why I see it like that but perhaps the nose moooooves me in that direction!   ;D
And now that I know this | is called a pipe...I can probably get into trouble refering to it! [evil]
Thanks again!
