Help! She's immobilized!

I'm going to try to make this really short, please help!

Just purchased a salvaged 2002 monster 620, 16k miles. Ran perfectly for two weeks, damage to it is only aesthetics. It rained really hard here in Cali for the past couple of days and I drove it twice in the rain. On one stop my check engine light came on and the immobilizer also, turned the bike off and back on a couple of times and boom I could start it. Drove it home from my work and parked it in my driveway, later that evening I had to move it and it did the same thing but eventually started. As of yesterday morning I just get the check engine light and immobilizer light. I removed and disassembled the guage cluster and it had absolutely no water in it, now the gauge cluster gasket is a bit uglier thanks to my skilled hands. Hooked everything back up..... still, no vroom.

I'm a very sad sad man, seeming this is my very first motorcycle and I've always wanted this bike and now It's a stop motion showpiece.  I don't have a red key, and I don't have the immobilizer card.

If my only option is ECU Reflash, where is the ECU located so I can remove it and send it to Desmoporsche?

And If the ECU reflash is absolutely necessary, how hard would it be for someone with no mechanical experience to put on a aftermarket gauge like those nice Koso ones?

I have a 2002 620 as well. I sent my ECU to Desmoporche and got it back earlier this week with a race map and no immobilizer. Apparently they put a an 05 flash on it which has a clutch switch and mine doesn't have a clutch switch so it won't start. I'm sending it back when I get a reponse, I'll let you know how it goes.

Check all your switches...clutch, sidestand, run/stop, etc... I had a Yamaha that had the same symptoms. Turned out to be the battery up and died overnight, but had enough juice to keep the lights on.

Wow.... I guess someone removed the cable that goes to the kickstand.
It is hanging there, and after fiddling with the little metal disk and turning it, magic, it works.

Such a pain in the ass....
