After riding a Harley with an open face you become to apreciate a screen even though it is small it does deflect alot of wind.

Mine is on! [thumbsup]

Take a look in the Tech boards, if it's not on one of the front pages a search will find it very quickly.
There are a few different threads on how people have done it.
Infact by necessity we had to do it to Goldfish's bike the other weekend. And when I say "we" I mean "we" told Dockstrada
what we thought worked best and sent him on his way.

Ive seen one thread on it.... hacksaw, welding etc........ i dont think its for me!

I have left mine on, as mentioned before I like the colour and sets the front of the bike nicely - the only other bike I liked with the fairing off (not a Monster) was my Pantah 650 - had that real cafe racer look!  [moto]

Ive looked around on the forums about lowering the gauges (not to sure if im that committed) however i cant find to much info on a how-to. Is it relatively easy or a bit of a process????

Mine are only dropped ~12mm.  I just removed the little wobbly rubber mounts and sensor frame and put some M4 threaded rod in instead.  I mounted the air sensor directly to the U frame with one of the rubber mount thingies.

I really like it.  As the photo shows, this is as low as I can mount my instruments without interfering with the controls.

they call it a 'bikini' fairing for a reason.....

good when they put it on

good when you take it off!

;D

ollie

mine's off, also with just about anything else that isn't absolutely a neccessity I like the bare bones look, but I don't do long trips on it or ride it as a daily

cakeman

just went for a ride with it off........ didnt really notice to much with the wind hitting the chest (but im a decent sized bloke)...... what i did notice which is something i havent really felt before is that when i was turning on to anzac bridge from victoria rd and giving it a bit as i was coming out of the corner, the front end wobbled quite a bit, im not sure if its related or not however i havent noticed it before.

I do like the look of seeing nothing infront of me but the road/cars...... with it on, i could see the windscreen out of the bottom of my eye when riding.....

But...... i think i might put it back on... no real reason why, but i know i wont be happy until gauges are dropped etc and i dont really want to go down that road because i know it will lead to something else i want to modify!

Cakeman this is caused by the wind hitting your body and the lack of strength in your arms to hold te bike steady. It is amazing how much the bikini does protect you at speed. Don't worry after a few rides without the bikini you will harden up. [moto] [thumbsup]

I'm pretty much soft all over so I think the bikini will come back on!

Personally, mine's off... but reckon yours looks better (from those shots) with it on..

As you say, different angles and phases of the moon will make you feel one way or the other about it.

Same over here, I like mine better off. Yours looks good on as it shows off your paint scheme!

+1

I have the older style DP carbon screen, and it deflects a fair bit of wind.

Windscreen off with bar end mirrors.

The first time you ride it, the open field of view in front of you will make you feel like you are running ridiculously fast. I recommend it.  [thumbsup]
