neither does the V-Max, the Rocket II Roadster, and I have seen ( not sure if they were modded or what) M109R's with no forward controls...

Hmmm...I guess I never looked too long at a VMax, but the Rocket III and M109R have forward controls.

Surely, there are no motorcycles uglier than the VMax.

not the Rocket III "Roadster" http://www.triumph.co.uk/usa/2010_RocketIIIRoadster_Gallery_2010RocketIIIRoadster.aspx

or at least, I don't think of those as being forward...

and the M109R I saw, as I said, I wasn't sure if it was stock or not, but having just looked at Suzuki's website....this one didn't have those controls, so now I know it wasn't stock....also had different pipes...so that makes sense...

It will be interesting to see if they bring it to Australia in it's current form, as I could see it struggling to make it through ADR certification with the current rear brake light/Indicator light setup, The rules for distance between indicators for the rear of a bike could throw a spanner in the works.

Australia is a big market for the cruiser companies, so I would be very surprised if the local Importer would not be in Italy at this very moment with lips firmly pressed against many bum cheeks trying to get this bike to Australia as fast as he can. (Per Capita, we are 2nd only to the USA for number of cruiser style bikes sold according to Harley)

Because the rest of the Ducati range is selling in Australia (Albeit slower than they would like, according to the Dealers I keep in touch with) This would give them access to a whole generation of Baby Boomers with Cash in hand.

M109R headlight, SV tail lights, VMAX air intakes...
Still, I like Ducati mixing it up. I'm sure it's going to be in the Multi price range though.
The bike weighs 460 (dry) pounds, I think if he's wrestling with it, it might be the length. My S2R is 56.7 inches and this is 62.6. Just looks long to me.
Of coarse this has more than twice the hp of my little 800.

the 240 series extra wide rear tire makes turn in slower/harder which also makes a huge difference...

now, the question is this...with the Ducati Performance catalog offer a replacement rim for a 300 series tire like what most guys put on bikes in that marketing segment?

Let's think about this.

Average Monster owner:  loves the SF, loves the HMT, loves the SBK, likes the Multi...

They are going for a whole new demographic.

I don't care for it, but I hope it works, cause I like the company even though I might be suing them over the tanks...  [roll]

Think about Ducati's history -- they haven't always down pure sport bikes.  And the Indiana wasn't the only cruiser-like bike they ever made (although it was the most "american")

My 500GTL runs great

Bet a 300 rear would look great on that bad boy

What does everyone think about the color choices?  The carbon scheme looks good, the white is OK, but the red with white/silver intakes look like the bike got spares from the junkyard.

for the red, the sides should either be black, carbon, or red.

the white isn't as obvious so no need to change, in fact, black or carbon would make the sides too obvious

the carbons are what they are. it downplays the heaviness of the front end.

I truly believe the back end on this bike is too short, to abrupt. it makes the whole think look like a bull dog on steriods... not so pretty (bulldog lovers don't hate me for lumping the bike with them or saying bulldogs are ugly)
