The new Monster 1100 evo - back to proper styling.  I like this, may have to trade the S2R 1000..... [moto]

Sounds good.  I might have to scrounge a test ride for comparison purposes.

Found a drawback - fuel tank = 13.5L to my current 15L (13 usable)

Found a drawback - fuel tank = 13.5L to my current 15L (13 usable)

meh that is not a drawback that is a challenge - if I can ride my S2R to the Island and back averaging 20km/litre (or 56.5mpg for those other folk  Grin) I am sure the new bike could do it!! Grin

where'd the rest of it go?   or did they just measure it with the fuel pump in?

Bigger airbox?

I can't imagine they'ld make something like the tank different, unless they HAD to

Litres. 

My owners manual quotes a 15 Litre tank that I have only ever been able to squeeze 13 litres into (I'm assuming other 2 litres keeps the fuel pump happy).  I have managed to go 250 kms on that 13 litres without running out so not sure how far I can really go.

Here in Australia those extre Litres and km do make a huge difference if you're travelling in far flung places with fuel stations few and far between.

And I for one do not like pushing my beast very far cos it's heavy goddammit.  Grin

yeah pushed 240km with reserve light on - that was 12 litres.

yeah agree there Vossy - I am sure there would be a sexy Termi or Zard system not far away!  Or maybe a modern update on the 2-1 system like my old Pantah had - Verlicchi exhaust that was loud as frak!!  laughingdp

Yes I have been stuck for fuel at Mortlake at 10 o'clock at night because the servo shuts at 9pm.  bang head bang head

Fuel stops round here are woeful, more so if you don't want to hang around the major highways. I've even had to drop into a farm to beg fuel cos the town's only fuel station had shut down years ago.  That was back in the days when I believed that little orange light would only let me get another 30kms.  I'm older and wiser now (hopefully  Roll Eyeslaughingdp

Im down to 100km per tank now!


...... definitely not a fan of that modern style monster headlight

..... Also..... why are they still choosing to make the 2V monster as opposed to the more powerful, more torquey 4Vs?

100km per tank?? WTF?? wow I am shocked if that is the fuel consumption!  Another reason why I love my 2V!  Grin

I love a 2V.  Not a fan of 4V, but bearing in mind the only 4V Monster I have ridden is an S4 and that was boring as a dial tone.  Grin

right right.  I forgot about that, because I think it's a silly "feature".  I'm happy to have a one of the last ducatis without abs or dtc

Cant say that I am convinced ... it seems the Monster has gone from a 'style icon' to a 'sales icon'.

Sure it has slightly more power, slightly less weight and the safety gear which will appeal to some (and probably save many others) but all bikes evolve. However, it is other things which are questionable (or un-Monster-like) ... the half trellis (sorry still can't come to turms with that) ... the exhaust from a power cruiser ... no compression damping available on the rear (although the blurb mention 3 times about the perfect balance in the suspension) ... apparently, a continually worsening fuel range ... and a wet clutch.

So the question becomes ... why would you not look at something else?

Oh and one more thing ... they keep going on about the 'less is more' concept ... but they have added in a whole heap of complicated electronics.
