Just planted my friend and neighbor of 15 years.  Thats 7 in the last five years.  Only two were over 55.

What sucks is that it is getting easier to deal with.   I guess all the practice....

I noticed when I turned about 40 people started to go away. I have lost several friends as the years have drifted by, no it does not get easier but we come to accept that it is part of life. The hardest death I had to deal with was this year was my friend Helen in the UK.She took her own life on Valentines day. She left a son Austin 13 and that was a really crappy thing to do . I wish she had called someone and let us know how much she was hurting inside.She was very well loved by us all and we knew that she suffered from depression. Sleep well Helen.

Sorry to see this thread. Sucks that it's getting easier. You're right, too much damn practice. Also don't like seeing apnea on that list. I have terrible apnea/snoring... like off the chart. Wife forced me at gun point (practically) to go to a sleep clinic and have the sleep studies done. I was afraid I would break their equipment! Too bad the only good answer is the CPAP machine. I hate that sucker, feel like Darth Vader! But it probably saved my life or at least added a few years. Also kept my wife under the same roof.

Again, sorry for the mounting loses. Hope it slows down soon.

is that I always seem to lose more friends than enemies....where's the make the beast with two backsing balance...

After losing a couple of close friends in the past months, I'm hoping that I'm not at the start of that same road, WJ. But the only alternatives I see are A) don't outlive any of the people I love, or B) stop caring for them, and I don't much like those options, either.

I do hope you get a break from the drumbeat of losses, and soon!

I know I've had enough for a while:

My Dad not quite two years ago, 62, completely unexpectedly. Still bothers me.

A work friend, 41, early this summer. Massive heart attack.

A family friend, 48, a month after above. Unknown diabetes complications.

October 13, my father-in-law, 77, unexpected as he was in great health. Sister-in-law followed on October 21, at 54. It's been ugly here and I want it all to end.

Rat, I agree - the good leave and the assholes continue to thrive....
