Okay, I'm ready to mod my bike's exhausts.  Seems like almost everyone put Termis on their monster 696/796/1100.

Being in Japan, I will have to cough up some big bucks to import anyway, so might as well do some research and ask you guys what Termi alternatives you would get if you had a monster of the newer kind.

Here's a couple of interesting sites where you might find something based in Japan

I've spent entirely too much time researching this, but I plan to go with a carbon version of Leo Vince Evo SBK or Arrow Thunder.  While both of these exhausts are considerably cheaper than Termi's, when you factor in either purchasing a race ECU (or re-flash) and an air filter, the Termi's are the cheapest way to go.

For the 796, so far I found Apex, Arrow, Akrapovic, Leo Vince and Zard.  Did I miss any?

Also, most videos on youtube have terrible sound, so I can't do a reliable comparison.

The HMF pipes sound really good (a friend has them on his 696) but they don't have a 796 version...

Most slip-on cans listed for M696 also use the same part for M1100.  And so I'm about to suggest that what fits M696 will also - almost certainly - fit M796.   The exception being the Termi kits as they come with model-specific ECUs (even though the cans are the same).

You dont like Termis then?

I believe Two Brothers does a kit.  They also allow you to custom order your pipes

I will have to agree with ungeheuer.  As for my, I am not a fan of the Termigs simply because its everywhere ad not dramatic looking.  I am aware that they are covered under the warranty tho

Termignoni=FAIL
Overpriced, not very good looking, used to be the best solution but hasn't been for years now. Big ugly stupid decals. Poor fit.
I'd rather take my chances with a set of Boomtubes, a freeflow air filter, and an ECU reflash/ProTune/ReXXer unit. And to the guy who said the Termi kits for the new Monsters were cheaper than comparable aftermarket solutions (Termi kits are sold by Ducati dealers, so not aftermarket as some assume) - I'll need you to prove that to me before I believe you. Termignoni is notoriously and offensively expensive. Almost like it's mafia controlled. Vive la Ducati reverse-engineering, and long live the aftermarket! Trust me once you shell out 3.5k for a Termi kit you will wonder why in the hell they cost so damn much.

I hear you.  My dislike for them are mainly two things: I find them dreadful looking when compared to the (zards, yoshi's, two brothers and sparks).  And the Price tag I find to be quite an extortion.

about your comment on decals: i always thought i was the only one who thought they were hideous.

Fair enough opinion piece there ^^  Smiley.  Although comparing Termis (or pretty much any slip on cans which retain the stock headers) to Boomtubes is like comparing chalk and mustard.  I dont think any slip on cans will add much to the power, but they look good (which ones look best is purely personal preference) and sound much better than stock.  Boomtubes I suspect will cost you a little HP (although I'm happy to be proven wrong if anybody has done any actual comparative measuring), but they do look good and I've no doubt the sound is something special too.

Thanks to everyone for their input.  Appreciate the helpful information.

Reason I'm looking for alternatives is not to gain a performance boost, but rather for better looks and sound, so slip-ons would do the job.

Termis do provide better looks and sound compared to stock, but personally, I do prefer the looks and sound of some of the alternatives.

Also, I do agree that Termis are becoming / became a sort of defacto exhaust mod, especially in Japan, which is another reason I'm looking for something else.

Plus, they are expensive as many of you already stated.

Check out some Fresco Carbon Conics at Motowheels. They be stupid big but there's something about their look that I like. Also the Comp Werkes, they're smaller and SS, but speak to me.
