WOW!!! And to think that there's no such thing exists in America. I came from a country where I was being discriminated because of my race and religion. There's hardly anything you can do legally where I came from. But, this happened in the US??? Unbelievable!  >:( >:( >:(. That woman should be locked up....period. And...why did the postman got fired??  [bang]....Sooo wrong....

locked up for her thoughts or for the minor assault and battery?  isn't that what you came here to get away from?
It's still buy a flounder a drink month

Agreed, there are rules to follow and I would be completely shocked if there was not a policy that the postal service has in place to deal with a situation where a person signs for certified mail and then realizes it isn't actually theirs

My take is the letter is hers and she didn't want it "served." Probably some past due bill or the like that the sender wanted to prove she received.

This guy and I have very little difference in our Jobs

Really? Very little difference in the job or a mail carrier and a fireman? Don't let your Union hear that. Might not go over well during contract negotiations.

Quotewe both get paid to drive a government vehicle to the public's homes and provide a service that may or may not result in varied emotional responses

It is the responsibility of the worker to remain calm and deflate potentially negative situations while following policy to the letter

What you do not do is continue to repeat the actions that provoked the emotional and now violent response while continuing to secretly video tape it then post it up on Youtube, that is completely wrong and thus justification for firing the guy

What he should have done is said, "No," and driven away. Let her rant all she wants. On the other hand we don't know the history here. Maybe she did this to him often and he wanted to get her on tape. I'm glad he did. I bet she doesn't do that to another mail carrier.

I stopped a guy last week and noticed his video camera running on the passenger seat. He said he always films when he gets stopped. I said, "So do I," and pointed to my in car camera. We then both filmed him signing his ticket.

It's perfectly legal to film people in public. As derby said, they have no expectation of privacy.

Yup. racism is quite alive and well and not just in the boonies either. I must come across as easy to talk to as it seems people really act as they are around me and because I like to observe people and what makes them tick, I often let them say whatever nonsense is in their little heads without correcting their ignorance. It really is surprising and sad how two faced an awful lot of people are.  [bang]
At least this moron doesn't seem to be hiding it.

if the offended party's reaction is violence
you secure your own safety and the safety of your government and/or public owned property
and
You call the police

well we can disagree on this aspect.
Yes the guy should have just driven away. but then again he probably had to go back the next day so trying to just tell her the istuation was the best way and she didn't want it that way she was saying "take it back or someone will lynch you"

Unfortunately there is only one way to deal with racists, but if you did that then there would be nobody left alive on the planet.

and he-man is correct when it comes to a confrontation that is racially based on ignorance you have to ask yourself: Am I ready to kill this person and ready to die for in this situation?

If you are not willing to answer yes to that question with 100% certainty, like He-man says, walk away fast, because that is the final destination of any racially based bigoted or racist confrontation.

Its not going to end like a disney story where everyone holds hands and understands each other and has no more prejudice that is hollywood, not reality.

It suprises me that this video suprises people  ???

Youtube is filled with racist bullshit, as it the world.  Is this news because he is a postal worker?

Dude should have just driven away...

QuoteI spoke to a mail carrier today. He told me that the carrier from the video was indeed fired, but not for the incident on the video. He wasn't doing his job. Apparently skipping duties such as monitoring relay boxes and "not caring" about his duties. "They" had been watching him for some time... the final straw was when he drove over and ripped up a residential lawn with the mail truck...
Every bike I've ever owned.

QuoteAnd Winchester has a history of belligerent behavior. Documents posted by The Smoking Gun show police were called to an event at the Hingham armory in 2007 to deal with Winchester, who was threatening "that anyone who wrongs her would 'get it with a machine gun.' When a cop tried to put her in a cruiser, she threatened to chop off his balls. And in 2005 she was arrested for drunk driving when she crashed her Volvo (of course) through a street sign.

erkishhorde

Interesting and sad that nut cases like that are allowed to run around spouting their insanity. Also interesting that the video cuts out when he gets smacked so you don't actually see it.
