clutch install problem

installing a new pressure plate and my wife came around the bike and grabbed the clutch.  now the pressure plate wont seat onto the teeth and the clutch cannot be engaged (stuck).  It's an 02 900 Monster.  Do I need to bleed the clutch and replace fluid?  I believe the slave piston is stuck but I'm afraid to engage the clutch while the slave is off.  Ideas?
Can we thin the gene pool?

The fluid side of the clutch should be fine.  It will take effort to move the fluid back to the reservoir, which is one of the things that the springs do. I would not suggest hammering on the plate, but apply good pressure to slowly move the fluid.

You can loosen the screws that mount the slave a bit.

Once you get the pp started on the splines and the springs installed...slowly tighten the slave mounting screws.

I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

Thanks.  I actually opened the bleeder valve and I screwed the slave on as it bled.  now the clutch pull is hard as hell.  [bang]
I don't know why I bother sometimes, nothing goes according to plan.
Can we thin the gene pool?
