I've managed to sell some parts and raise some capital to get the Monster moving towards assembley. Started to look at the rear wheel and noticed it had a flat spot in, most likely from the crash landing. I thought about having it straightened and compared that cost with buying a used one off the on-line auction place. Great ,got a good deal on a replacement wheel.
It arrived and the first thing I notice is an elephant cast into the wheel, uh oh, older than I thought. THe next thing I notice is the bearings are smaller than the original and, of course the axle in a smaller diameter. So by being cheap, have I F*cked myself, or can I use this wheel if I find a smaller axle and tensioners? (both wheels are 5.5")

sell it off and find the right wheel. it will be cheaper, and easier.

What year/model monster do you have?
1999 M750 AKA Little Blue Monster, 2002 S4, 2006 Sport 1000, 2008 Sport 1000, 2005 749s, 2018 R NineT Urban GS

you should be able to get bearings to fit the larger dia axle, but I think they may be narrower width so you'd have to get a couple of spacers made and a longer crush tube in between the bearings.
probably easier to sell and re-buy like corey said...

Mine is a 2000 900sie. I don't know which year the "deal of hte century" wheel came from. DOH!

The older wheel and axle are heavier.
