I've owned servral motorcycles over the years, from tourers to sport tourers and am about to trade my victory hammer for a Monster....I've never owned a Ducati and at 53 it's now or never!

From what I've read, I'm leaning toward the 1100...it will be used around town and on twisty country roads nearby with maybe a trip or two to Arkansas(I live in MO)....

I don't like loud motorcycles and wondered if the dry clutch is loud enough to hear when riding and if so, is it bothersome?

Also, I have no real color preference.....is one color better for resale over another...I tend to keep motorcycles two or three years and then move onto something else, so I may as well get a good resale or trade color...if there is any difference!

Thanks for any input,
Rob Ray

The dry clutch can be loud when idling in neutral. Especially if you are running an open clutch cover but it's still fairly noticeable with the stock cover. That's part of the appeal and a Ducati signature. I've had Ducatis with and without the dry clutch. I don't have a preference and I've gotten so used to it that I don't even notice it much anymore.

IMO color choice has no real effect on resale but you just about can't miss with red.

No, you won't hear the clutch when riding.

Resale color?  Probably not too big an issue.

Resale color?  Probably not too big an issue.

Especially with the body kits that one can get for the newer monsters. Don't fret that.

The dry clutch, with a closed cover really isn't that noisy - especially when new. Once the cover comes off - that lets the noise out. Also as the plates and eventually the basket wear there will be more noise. But, if you're hearing noise from the clutch while the bike is in real motion - then you've got problems.

A lot of the noise comes from the plates jingling in the basket when the drive train isn't loaded. Once you're putting power to the rear wheel - the plates won't be jingling, as they are transmitting the engines forces through the clutch to the wheel.

If you plan on buying a new model the 1100evo comes with a wet clutch.

true the new Monster 1100Evo would be a perfect bike for you.
Color is what you want when you want.
Wet clutch
new exhaust that should be a bit quieter for the rider/passenger.

Thanks for the information.....

I'm finding some "new" 2009s still in dealer stock that have been discounted somewhat....

So I'll probably go with one of them.   I'm always looking for the "good deal"!!!
