My grandma had the hip thing done a while back. She elected to have the spinal block as opposed to general anesthetic... said it sounded like they were hammering a piton into a rock wall. Pretty cool stuff!

If I posted the full xray it would be NWS! I'm just shy of 3 weeks out and I'm already driving and walking.
By the way Dan..... My mushroom is not that big!
Those "washers" are left over my bike rebuild last year.
Part of my snip snip job!

damn you see stuff like this and you realize that as advanced as we think medicine is, its still at times looks primitive when you see things like metal and what looks like wood screws being used. sheesh.
but glad you are feeling well.

I had full hip replacement done on my left leg back on March 12, of '09.
I needed it because I had a disagreement back in '98 on my Honda Magna with a woman in her Acura Integra 4-door, who disliked the color of a stop sign.
11 years of pain, and weather changes, plus not being able to get on the bikes I really wanted to sit on came to an end.
It still amazes me how much pain I actually lived with every day, that I never thought about and acknowledged, that was suddenly just gone. I didn't know it was there, but I certainly knew when it had left.
If you've been in pain for a while, you're going to feel so much better now.
I was 24 at the time of the original accident, and 34 when I finally screwed up the nerve (compliments of an angry gf, who said get your damn hip fixed) to get my hip sawed apart. I really wish I had it done years earlier when I had health coverage that would have covered 100% of it, instead of just 90%.
My totals were well over $60k.
Its been almost 2 years, and even though I didn't pay every penny of it out of my own pocket, it was WELL worth it.
BC.
