As you know we have this crazy Italian and a honest to goodness Ducati fanatic going around the world on a Ducati MTS "lydia" http://www.paolopirozzi.com/ and he will be at DucPond, right now scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. I encourage all of you to plan to attend. The weather forecast for Wednesday is looking okay so a ride out to DucPond would be great and traffic out that direction should be fine. Currently Walt (MAD Club President) and I are scheduled to ride up to Delaware and escort him to No. Va/DC tomorrow morning, if schedule holds we'll also plan to show him a few sights on way back, then take him to dinner and drinks at a local watering hole, maybe Lakseside in Reston, I'll post up when that location is a definite, ~6PM. He is staying with Walt and Ivonne so for sure any meetup tomorrow night will be out that direction, west of the beltway. This is a big deal on an International scale and while the schedule has been a problem since he hit bad weather out west, I'm hoping some of you can show your support by making it out to DucPond, Wednesday late afternoon. - Gene

Paolo!  Not paola!  Paola is a girls name!

Pretty far from civilzation for a tuesday morning.  It would be great if it was closer to DC unless you only want a handful of people there

Oops on the Name, corrected.

I'm not sure what you mean by Tuesday, we are going up to Delaware to meet him that day, I did not ask for folks to meetup with us for that. Wednesday afternoon is DucPond, but at any rate I'm not responsible for locations, schedule etc... I'm just trying to help out with the escorting. - Gene

Gene, are you guys going to be having drinks on Wed night?  If so, we could try to do a weekly "meet-up" out there in Reston.

Well there has been another schedule change and supposeldy Ducati told him to stay in NYC and rest up, so he is now not leaving to head south until Wednesday morning. I'm not quite sure what the schedule will be at this point, gonna be tough for him to get down here, see DC, and get out to DucPond all on Wednesday and then leave for Charlotte Thursday morning, I know some roads but I'm not a miracle worker. I'll post up when I have a confirmed schedule for Wednesday. Walt and I were talking about either Lakeside in Reston or the Olde Brogue in Great Falls for beer etc... - Gene

We are leaving for Delaware this AM, based on what we are hearing about meet-up time we will go directly to DucPond from Delaware, arriving there probably around 5PM - but who knows, with traffic etc.. he'll probably be late to meet-up in Delaware and then we'll probably run into traffic getting him to DucPond. Then tomorrow plan is to take him on a quick early morning visit to DC and then escort him down to NC. The schedule sucks to be honest, but It's not of my doing and I have no control over it. I worry about the lasting impression he will have of DC and the local Ducati community, but it's not our fault we've done all we could do to accomodate. There is not an appreciation on this Holiday and what it means to us Americans, it would be like us trying to visit the factory in Italy in August. - Gene

His Live Map says he's still on the Jersey Turnpike.  He'll never make it to DucPond before closing time!

Taking the tpke is both suicidal and slow as MO-lasses.

Much as I would love to go, I'm in the office for the day.

Gen, I agree -making it from Trenton to Winchester...on a good day 4.5 to 5 hours.  On a holiday weekend (even against traffic)...

Just got a text from Walt the MAD prez saying that due to NYC guys getting him out late and the timeframe pushback with traffic et all, Ducpond dinner is cancelled, they are now aiming for cocktails at Sweetwater Tavern in Sterling at 8pm for all of those that care to join.

We did indeed make it there at 7:47PM, did not leave the Delaware meetup until after 4PM, we made good time even though there was an accident on one of my little roads, not us - a couple of cars. It was a bit chilly to say the least, glad I took the ST3 and not one of the Monsters. We plan to meetup at Starbucks, Reston, South Lakes shopping center, ~8AM, then do some quick photo shoots downtown before heading down to Charlotte, NC. He is a nice guy, my kind of rider, loves riding, no electronic aids just where the roads take him. Weather looks iffy in AM but I will plan to be at Starbucks so head on out, ya gotta see his bike "Lydia". - Gene
