Cleaned out the surfaces with a P800 sandpaper. everything is ready for the assembly.
i have 2 questions:
1) Should i use some type of sealant on the gasket? (99% of the people who responded to my posts said NO)
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnwepAGjEub2BTegodcc3lIazKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20110109185923AAqdaov

2) What torque foot/pounds , newton/meters should i use for the head nuts?

thank you .

If you're referring to the cylinder base gasket between the cylinder and cases then the answer is it absolutely needs sealer. There is no head gasket as it seals on the cylinder spigot. I would use some lapping compound on that joint to check that everything is right. Clean all the abrasive off before assembly.

The answer to your torque question is in here...http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=373.0

there should be an Oring.
If not, and PO sealed that oil passage w sealant, it could probably be the reason
for the oil leak.

There was no O-ring there when i removed the cylinder. there was just sealant around the hole.
Where can i purchase this O-ring? my parts book doesnt have it for some reason.

Any dealer can get you one. We have 3 Ducati dealers as sponsors. I'm sure any one of them would send you one.

It's very likely. It's also likely it was left out at the factory.

You still need to use sealer on that base gasket though. ;)

Many use 3-Bond. It is very similar to the factory sealer.

Went today at the dealer to get the Gaco Ring. part #938232037.
came back to the garage and tried it . it looks that its not supposed to be there. the oring is bigger than the hole.
if you put it around the hole and put the base gasket on.. theres going to be a gap between the base and the cylinder.
here are 2 pictures.

Pretty sure the o-ring goes on the cylinder side of the gasket. There should be a relief cut in the cylinder.

The problem is your bile is an '02 therefore there is no groove for it.  Ducati stopped using the O ring in '01, so no more groove.

The S4 needs to have the oil passage plugged.  The 2 valvers don't.

desmodoktor

yeah.. there is no way for the oring to go there...
its not a big deal it cost me 1$.  [thumbsup]
