H guysi, ive just installed the brake side rizoma rearset with out to much trouble.. the problem is that my rear brake has only approx 5mm of play in it now..... Im assuming the brakes need to be bleed? Also i need to lengthen the whose from the brake fluid cyclinder to the master cylinder (hose was included in the rizoma rear sets)..... for full adjustmeants of the rearset the hose needs to be lengthed.....

ive never bleed brakes before and am a little frightened of fluids

Im assuming that i can connect a hose to the rear caliper nipple, crack the nut and drain ALL fluid in to a cup or something....

Once all fluid is drained, i can lengthen the hose from the fluid resvouir to the master cylinder.

Once that is done... im a little lost on the process on how to bleed/fill the cylinder up with brake fluid? ive looked around but cant find any definitive way of doing it with out getting brake bleeding kits etc......

Also, when the bike was serviced a month ago, fluids were done, so im assuming it will be fine to use the same brake fluid?

Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks!

once you reassemble the rear brake set up fill the reservoir and leave the cap off. Then put the bleed hose back on the bleed nipple. push the lever and open the nipple to let the air out then close nipple and release lever. Repeat until you only get fluid out the nipple and no air bubbles. Make sure the level of fluid in the reservoir doesn't get down too far, keep topping it up.

Brake fluid works best when its new so I wouldn't re-use the old stuff. Its not that expensive.

Good luck and thanks for the opportunity to use the word "nipple" so often in one post.  laughingdp Tongue

hmmmmm.... so to lenghten the hose between the resovouir and the master cylinder..... crack the NIPPLE and let all the fluid drain?

then close the nipple, lengthen the hose to the right length.

So now there is no fluid at all in the system..... have the NIPPLE closed and fill the resoviour...... connect bleed hose to nipple... crack the nipple and THEN push down on the brake???

i get a bit lost on this part....

It's rideable, it's nothing major. I just won't touch the rear brake otherwise I'll be leaving some black lines on the road! You working this morning Brian? Is your son in law around Smiley

Join the club, although sometimes I struggle with the petrol.

One of us has got it wrong. I generally hand box of bits to the missus and only go out to the garage once its done Grin
