When someone poses the question "Do you wanna drive 2000 miles in three days to go pick up a motorcycle?" The only possible answer is, HELL YEAH!

Details to come soon.

If you have incriminating pics or video post them here.

Yes, I'm a dork...  But, it doesn't matter because
I have a FRICKIN' 999!!!
The only problem I've noticed with the bike so far is it tends to rev up to about 8,000rpm whenever it goes under a bridge or through a tunnel. Huh?  Anyone else experience this?   Evil

Also, does anyone know how I can make the Happy Dance vid my Avatar?  I'd like to do that...  cheeky

Yes, coming soon...

We just drove 2,000+ miles in three days, with some riding,  bacon muffins, and Hendrick's Gin and St. Germaine thrown in along the way.  Not to mention Thanksgiving dinner in Phoenix.

I'm gonna take a nap   Wink

Yep. I'm laying in bed friggin exhausted right now. Here is the basic outline of the trip. I will let others fill in the silly details with more pics and video.

Basically this trip was all Duc Stew's fault. He found a Bacon Junkie a deal on a 999 that simply could not be passed up. What was originally gonna happen was that Stew was going to bring the 999 out to SoCal we he came out to pick up the chasis for his m750CR. But that would be in Dec. Ryan, the man of logic that he is, decided it would make a lot more sense to drive the 1,000 miles out to Alubuquerque to pick it up. He asked me if I wanted to go.

Um, a ridiculous and unnecessary road trip for a stupid distance on a tight time frame? Um, HELL YEAH!! But my wife's family was coming into town for Thanksgiving and would never disappoint my nieces and nephews when they want to see. But they are all crazy and couldn't get it together, so I told them to stay in Pheonix and we would come to them. In the meantime Stew found a cb350 on craigslist for my wife. Awesome!

Bacon Junkie came up to Santa Barbara Wednesday night and we had dinner with my wife, her friend and her friend's mom (who is 71 and has a huge crush on Bacon Junkie, her dad used to put her on the tank of his Ducati when she was young!). We got on the road at 7:30am Thanksgiving Day and made it out Pheonix by 3:30pm. We had TG dinner with my wife's sisters and parents and the nieces and nephew. Then we ate cookies and played with the kids all night They had a blast and so did we. We tried to get in bed at 9:00 but a thousand hugs from the kids pushed bed time back to 10:00pm. I miss those little rugrats.

We set our alarm for 3:00am (not a typo!) and were back on the road by 4:00am with a bit over 500 miles to go to get to Albuquerque. Breakfast in Flagstaff then a long drive through a whole lot of nothing brought us into ABQ at around 1:30pm. We went straight to the local Ducati Dealer to meet DucStew and Dusty and to close the deal on Bacon Junkie's 999. Has he mentioned he got a 999? Because he did. With the deal done Bacon Junkie understandably did his happy dance (see above). It was great to see Stew again and meeting Dusty was a pleasure, a beautiful and fun woman for sure. They took us to a great little Irish Pub for lunch and beer.

We road  back to Stew's shop to stow the 999  until the morning and to check out the cb350. The little honda was in great shape. It did however have the original tires. For anyone who hasn't done 50mph on 40 year old tires let me tell you that it is nerve wracking, stupid, a just a shit load of fun. I will post up more about this bike as I get it in working order (including new tires!)

After taking turns on the cb350 we went back to Stew's pad to get ready for dinner. There we met Larry who also happens to own a 900ss. He mentioned he had a few spare parts so he and I ran over to his shop before dinner. He hooked me up with some pegs, a front fender and a service manual for very reasonable prices. Bonus! Thanks Larry!

Dinner was a lot of fun. We got to meet Plumber's Crack and DucMouse and eat good food from a hibachi. Afterward Stew made me what may be the best drink I have ever had. Truly a marvel of alcoholic engineering. I'm hooked.

[THIS PORTION HAS BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT THE INNOCENT SNUGGLE BEES]

Bacon and I were asleep by 10pm. Bacon was up at 4am with the stomach problems from dinner. I slept until 6:30am because I had no such problems. This is why you drink as much alcohol with dinner as possible people. Alcohol kills germs.

Unfortunately alcohol also shreds stomach lining. I couldn't quite stomach breakfast. Or was it the asshole in the cafe that was screaming into his cell phone that was making me nauseous? After breakfast we headed over to Stew's shop. He tossed a new chain on the 999 and fabbed up a bracket to keep the temp license from rubbing the rear wheel. When DucMouse showed up on her m1000 we mounted up and headed out to Coffee at Dawn. Stew had arranged for me to ride a m900 (Stew please tell me again whose bike that was so I can properly thank him) which was fun. Stew was on the 848 Capt. America with Dusty as pillion and Ryan was on the new 999. Did he mention he got a 999? Because he did. The wonderful lady at Coffee at Dawn made a batch of her Bacon Maple Muffins just for us. They were frickin' fantastic! I'm not going to remember everybody's name, but several other DMFers met us there as well. Please post up if you were there so it can jog my memory.

We went up into the twisties for a bit, but the roads were in rough shape with a lot of water, ice and sand. Still it was beautiful. We headed back to Stew's shop, loaded up the bikes ad said our goodbyes. Our 24 hours in ABQ were up. We hit the road wishing we had more time to spend with our old friend Stew and our new friends too. 1000 miles, 17 hours and 11ty billion dick jokes later we were back in Santa Barbara, exhausted and happy.

This was the dry, no frills version of the story. And I've left out a lot simply because I'm tired. There was a lot of shenanigans and rediculousness that I will let others relay. Liquor was consumed, laws were broken, boobies were ogled and stuffed animals were sexually violated.

To all of my new New Mexican friends, when the winter becomes unbearable and you need to ride, you always have a place to stay in sunny SoCal and Bacon Junkie and I will be happy to take you on a tour through the canyons.

Thank you all so much!! I had a blast!
