Clicking sound in motor

So ive tinkered with a bunch of stuff trying to get rid of that annoying snappy feeling from my bike.

So far, this is what happens, If im moving along around 20mph, with the clutch pulled in gear, i can rev my bike freely and as my RPM is coming down, around 1500-2000 or so,  theres someting inside the motor or along the drive train that goes CLICK. i only notice it if im in gear. Does not happen in neutral. and it is repeatable.

Any idea what it is? its really starting to annoy me.

I've swapped clutch packs, tightened up my chain and my sprockets too.

Might be that the chain is too tight, but I doubt it. Too tight chains make a pretty distinct clicking.

chains got enough slack, so its definitely not that, plus if its too tight, it would of snapped already considering ive hit monsterous  potholes made by a slow forming cavity below the city that is soon to swallow Manhattan into the pits of hell.

C'mon, cut NY some slack. It's definitely one of the most amazing places in this country, and for good reasons. Plus I'm from there......Jersey, on the other hand, you're absolutely right about!!

Cush drive in the clutch hub or sprocket carrier?

my Vee-two clutch hub doesnt have a cush drive.  and i double check the sprocket carrier for the cush drive hitting the whole cam assembly. they were all tight last i remember.

I had a subtle click also and I took care of it by spraying some of the new DuPont silicone Teflon spray on the cush drive rubbers.  They have a hard, lonely, life and they click for love.

Well, now i notice the click even on the highway. I'm really not sure whats causing it. It ONLY happens in gear an it only happens as teh revs come down from blipping it. I think im going to completely rebuild the clutch area.

This is a long shot, but...

If the rear wheel is not mounted properly on the guide posts, it makes a slight knocking noise that may transfer through the chain to the motor under engine braking.

Last i remember i lined them up as I usually do. But ill check again, but the click exists regardless if im engine braking or not since i can reproduce the clicking sound even if im not moving.
