sorry, i searched through before posting, and i couldnt find it. but good call on not draggin it up. It's not meant to be mean or degrading, just eye opening.....there may be some comments, but i think they're meant in a stereotypical teasing way, not in a "i hate you and you're people" way......

I completely understand. I made a comment on that thread thinking it was the stereotypical teasing, but soon after my post it went down hill. I banned myself for the weekend for opening the door.

amazing how slow most of the accidents were.  They almost looked staged.

Not really staged, but as if they were playing "chicken."
Woohoohoohoo! Two personal records! For breath holding and number of sharks shot in the face.

Maybe the Chinese government doesn't require any kind of driver training or licensing.  You know, as another form of population control.   :D
Ahh... but the servant waits, while the master baits.

Sometimes Aloha means Goodbye.

After saing WTF several times while watching the clip (my husband and I), he commented: "Maybe they're too short to see over the steering wheel".
Saying goodbye this morning when he rides to work:
Me: "Ride safe, hun."
Him: "You, too, ride safe, too , tonight. Remember there are lots of Chinese out there."

(I'm Chinese, so, I'm allowed to tell this, no? ;D).

the speed of almost all of those crashes would indicate a severe lack of driver's education

as well as pedestrian education for that matter

It's a country stepping into the modern world. They just don't have the instincts we do. Not yet anyway. Looking back when the car made its first appearances in the states I'm sure it was the same deer in the headlights "What the hell is that horseless thing coming directly at me?" moments.

And when they start getting the Ambulance Chasers on TV and into the courtrooms, then they've REALLY become a modern society.  [laugh]

There were a lot of accidents like this in the US 100 years ago, too. China's expanding economy is affording people things like cars for the first time. There are so many new roads and new drivers, and not the education/safety devices we're accustomed to. Imagine if everyone in the US drove like a 16 year-old kid with a cell phone in one hand and the radio controls in the other. That's China.

I'm in Suzho China right now for business and the streets are CRAZY.  I can't believe that I've only seen 1 minor accident.  I'm afraid for my life every time I get in a car.  I can't see the video since they ban youtube here, but I can imagine.  There's is proliferation of electric scooters here that don't stop for anything and you can't hear them!!  Ninjas!!

over 1/2 the accidents in the video involve a 2 wheel vehicle also - either a bicycle or scooter or both.
