.... as long as there is jealousy or desire, there will be dishonesty and thievery.   it's just part of the human condition, just like crabs, the clap, taxes, hemorrhoids and soccer mom drivers.
I know.  We all know.  I was lamenting that its so, not denying the bleeding obvious reality  laughingdp

I have rose colored glasses, but I'm not naive enough to wear them often.  In fact, I think I loaned mine to Ryan so he'd think Helga, his new 999, is pretty.

Well....compared to Ryan.....

agreed.  I wish they'd caught him in the act.  stealing shit from bikers when there's a bunch of bikers around?  how ugly would that get?

Here in Texas you can fix that problem quickly -legally- and permanently.

No.

In Tx they will "process" (arrest) you and let you go home.
A grand Jury convenes in the following day, discusses the situation, and dismisses all charges.

Happens all the time here.

I hate thieves. I am always weary of leaving my helmet on my bike untethered.

A few years ago, there was a guy out in Phoenix who was stealing bikes at trackdays. He would roll unattended bikes into his enclosed trailer with his own trackbike. Thankfully they finally caught him.

Really? In Texas you can shoot someone who is stealing a couple hundred bucks worth of your stuff and not threatening you or anyone else in the process? And the cops just send you home? Really? How often does that happen?

I always take a dump in my helmet if I'm going to leave it on my bike unattended.  That way, either it doesn't get stolen or the thief gets a shitty surprise.  I also only wear pre-crashed helmets, so that they're worthless to thieves and provide no protection to a thief if he crashes.  To top it all off, I rock the disco helmet, which no self-respecting thief would be caught dead in.

How often does that happen?

Considering the potential consequences for the thief ... I'd suggest not very often

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

That helmet, in Texas, IS NOT worth a just a couple hundred bucks.  It is worth YOUR LIFE.

So a thief has to ask himself "...do I feel lucky? ...is this helmet worth my life to me?..."

Some criminals say "yes".  laughingdp

Someone stealing your stuff?  Shoot 'em.
Someone on your property after dark?  Shoot 'em.
Breaking and entering?  Shoot 'em.
Kid stealing the stereo outta' your car?  Shoot 'em.

There is a very loooooooong list of good reasons to shoot someone in Texas  laughingdp
...and the only carry here is concealed carry ...so you never know who is packing where.   Wink
