when riding over pot holes or other bumps in the road, i tend to stand up on my pegs. Its more of a reflex, do most people do this, or do they just ride it out?

Thanks

Yes if there are several (i.e., crappy roads).  If just a speed bump, then I gas up to lighten the front wheel.

This is uncomfortable even for women.  I don't stand up, but I do lift my butt just off the seat.

The way the taught us at MSF was to stand up, lean back a bit and gas it a bit right before you hit an obstacle.  I was able to go over a 2x4 easily and smoothly so it prob will work for a pothole Smiley

I'm not sure if it's just a comfort thing either.  I think I have more control and less chance of jerking the bars if I use my legs as shock absorbers in a pothole or rough road situation.  (A la motocross style riding).

Us gents need to be mindful to get far enough off the seat that it doesn't rise up and smack us in the *ahem* rear.  If you know what I mean.

Yup, had that happen before.  Shocked I usually do stand up a little bit though.
