How bad is it to ride in the rain with a short tail (evotech, rizoma etc) compared to stock fender?

Both stock and tail chop will get you wet, but chop makes it worse/quicker.
It's not only the shorter size, it's the turbulence behind the rider - it pulls the water in.

There is a 100% dry fix though....
(at 100 mph you outrun the turbulence'd water)
(so I've been told....)

I don't understand these questions. If you are riding in the rain, you're going to get wet no matter what. You can only get so wet...

Except with a short tail you will get the fling of water off the rear tire straight onto your back.  Along with that comes all the road grime.

There is a fix!  Get your fiberglass kit out and and extend the mud gard around the rear tire almost all the way around and the problem is fixed.  I however removed mine and when i ride in the rain it cleans the rear shock.
I live vicariously thru myself......

When I ride in the rain, I'm a rain suit on over my usual gear, so it's fine.  My concern is for the day after the storm, when it stopped raining but the roads are still wet.

I guess if I do get a tail chop, I'll have to live with the consequences.

Thanks everyone.

The correct term for what happens with a tail chop & rain is "swamp ass"

Curable with a rainsuit / Aerostitch.
I own several motorcycles. I have owned lots of motorcycles. And have bolted and/or modified lots of crap to said motorcycles...

yeah its not that bad but your ass will get wet.  I agree if you're wet you're wet.  the only really bad situation would be driving just after rain and the rest of you is dry but still your feet are gonna get wet so........ [bacon]

Thanks guys.  I think I'll wait for the rainy winter out before tail chopping.

Rooster Tail = [thumbsup]

since I dont own a car and rider everyday rain or shine I can say that as long as you wear gear suitable for the elements, the wet is no biggie....

FYI- I bought a Fieldsheer cyclone suit over the summer (for wet weather riding)... BEST 200 bux I ever spent
