I have bar end mirrors and want to do something with the hole that the OEM mirrors use to screw into, they're just open holes. The OEMs fit into the top of the clamp that holds the master cylinders on the bars. I'd like to find a clamp that doesn't have the mirror hole but haven't been able to. Can you get a rubber plug for those holes?

lowe's has plugs in the screw section. you need 5/8" for old gen and 1/2" for new gen I think.

1.  Yes you can get a non-mirror clamp from Brembo.
2.  Turn it upside down.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Brilliant. I'll go do that now.

I tried mine upside down and flipped them back the right way up.  they just didn't look/fit right upside down.  I'm sure it works fine though.  you can get the plugs or you can mount something else there.  my left one now has a mount for my phone.

I ended up plugging them. The upside down just looked awkward. The non-mirror clamps are $9 each. The 5/16 plugs fit perfectly (1/4 fits the newer 696s) and look pretty good. If I would have done a better job searching I would have found this thread that answered all my questions (3 years ago!): http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=14855.0

Was actually wanting dgm to post a pic of his phone mount.  I was thinking of doing something similar.

OH!   sure, I'll work on that.  my handlebar mount and top triple clamp are off right now for powdercoating, but I think I can get some pics tomorrow anyway.

This isn't in the final position and I need a shorter bolt for the spot where the mirror used to be, but other than that, this gives a general idea:

hope it helps a little

it's all RAM Mount stuff on this one.  http://www.ram-mount.com/  I just pieced together the parts I wanted for my application, which included the tab mount, the iphone 4 cradle, and the ball mount to connect the two.  Don't forget that you need the diamond shaped piece for the backside of the iphone cradle, if you decide to go this route.  ...speaking from experience.

on my other bike I used a system from TechMount that I actually like a little better only because it is a little slimmer... but I wanted to use the mirror holes on this bike and the RAM system did that nicely.  The techmount was a little more expensive too... but I've got 7000 miles on it, with my iPhone in for many of those.  No problems ever.

One thing I really like about this is that I can just turn on my iphone video camera and have a forward facing recording of riding if I want.
