I bought my M620 a few months ago from a guy about 2 hours from my house. Bike was/is in great shape and had low miles, but I was a little worried about not having the red key. Before I drove off he said he would try to find the key. As nice as he was, I thought "look for the key?... Yeah, right."

Yesterday I got an email from him. "good news... I found the key. I'll drop it in the mail in the morning."

How cool is that?

cool.  I had the same thing happen with an outboard boat engine - he would look for the 2nd key.  He found it over a year later and mailed it to me and all I got was an envelope ripped apart.  Keys are not good things to send by regular mail and a regular business envelope- FYI.  At least use a padded envelope.

Guy I bought my S4R from 3yrs ago....he drove 45 miles and brought me the original binder and packet to my work after I left his house with it still on his table.  He was really happy it went to a decent owner...he emails me once and a while about the bike.  I send him pics when I do big mods to the bike.

Not sure what you mean... he emailed yesterday, said he would drop it in the mail in the morning (today), and I said I hope I didn't speak to soon about getting the key in case it is lost en route. As for mail service... usually 2 days from Charlotte to Spartanburg although I did get a letter in one day earlier this year.

He's worried that the same thing that happened to mitt is gonna happen to him.

He doesn't wanna open his mailbox in the morning to find an empty envelope with a hole in it because it wasn't shipped in a padded envelope or box.

Yeah that sucks. A buddy of mine once did something similar by accident. Fortunately it wasn't a key to anything really important that was lost!

Plan a decent back road route and ride over to get the key.  Of course, it's currently partly cloudy and 73-degrees heading to a high of 79-degrees in north east Texas, so that's easy for me to say.

I found an extra key from a moped I sold a long time ago but lost all contact with the buyer.  Still have the key for some reason.  It was just the key to lock the forks though not start it.

I have a Yamaha Motorcycle key I found in a parking lot.  Never did find that owner.   Posted on craigslist for a month after I found it and not one response.

Ducati owners can be cool.
Two months after I bough my Monster, the seller contacted me via email to say that had found some more stuff for the Monster.  He mailed it to me, refusing my offer to cover the shipping.  When the package arrived, it had the universal clips for the battery tender (already had the pig tail connector on it but now I can use it on other bikes), the factory "tool kit", and something else that was as "useful" as the tool kit but I cannot remember what it was.  The point is, it was nice that he sent it even though it did not enhance my Ducati experience to have it.  I would rather have it then have it thrown away.  Nice guy! chug
