Hmmm... "the needy or suffering" is not how I see this.
I understand that it can be seen as something other than what I see it as,
but I compare it to a kid asking for money for his birthday, so he can buy what
he really wants, with the smaller cash gifts combined.

So, it's not going to raise money that was otherwise going to be donated to the "needy or suffering".
It's only going to be personal gifts (hopefully in addition to charities)

YMMV

:)

I'll fund starving children whose parents make the beast with two backsed up like I did last year.

how, exactly, did you make the beast with two backs up last year?  ;D

Personally I disagree with cosmetic surgery (so many perfect breasts destroyed  [bang] )

This is not cosmetic surgery that people do because they are shallow and like the look of any innie rather than an outtie. Think about how strongly you would have to feel about what you are doing for you to undergo voluntary surgery. On your penis.

This is one of the most idiotic things I've ever read. Ever. I can't quite devine what you intent was here but your analogy is terrible. Literally a life time of thought and anguish has gone into this decision. Don't trivialize it.

don't glorify it either.

We've read posts here about how absolutely horrible divorce lawyers are for the trauma inflicted and money spent....   I bet the spouse looked at it from a different view.

personal issues shouldn't be public fodder.

I understand the situation and I support BGB's plan.
My intent is not to trivialize it.
I do not mean it as an analogy at all.
What I was trying to say was that BGB is asking for small gifts which put together will get her what she wants.

OK?

it's a pretty cool group here and we find support in often surprising places for often surprising things.

I like the DMF.

I hope you find happiness.

honestly.

but

carve up your body when you have the $.

I'll fund starving children whose parents make the beast with two backsed up like I did last year.

asking for money for personal shit should allways be embarrassing and not encouraged.

fall of Rome indeed.

edit:  zero forum mod or admin content...    completely personal.

Gotta say I pretty much agree.  I don't understand the sense of urgency, but I'd be the first to acknowledge most of us wouldn't truly understand much of what she's dealing with.

With regard to trivializing her issue, I think the point that was being made was that in comparison to issues like starvation, this issue pales in comparison, as important as it is to her personally.  That comparison trivializes the truly critical issues in this world.

I definitely hope everything turns out well, but I have a limited amount of funds to contribute to help others.  I prioritize my giving, and issues such as food, shelter, and literacy will always take precedence for me.

But I wish her well for sure.

It's good you're not asking for donations for an engagement ring.  ;D

Not poking fun, just reminiscing about another thread in the not too distant past.  ;)
I like a drink. You know when people say 'I like a drink as much as the next man'? Not if I'm the next man, you don't.

Charlief

Really?! For cosmetic surgery?

I wish you the best of luck but I guess I just don't understand what you are going through.  I feel that there are so many others out there that need so much more.

May you live a happy and healthy life.

Fellow Ducatisti/DMLers...please help me.

I have just recently become engaged to a wonderful girl (who supports my Ducati habit whole heartedly). I bought her engagement ring, and was expecting to be able to pay off about half of the ring up front, and pay the rest off when I could.

I'm a full time college student (taking 20 hours), and am working on acquiring my commercial pilot's license which is required for me to graduate and receieve my degree, so I have no time to work, even on weekends.

This is hard for me to admit, but I would rather swallow my pride and ask for help than have my fiancee lose her engagement ring because I'm not able to make the payments for it.

I am asking that you donate at least $1 and no more than $5 (unless you really want to give more, then feel free to do so).

Let's do the math here: $1 x 8000 = paid off. $2 x 4000 = paid off. $3 x 2667 = paid off. $4 x 2000 = paid off. $5 x 1600 = paid off.

If you feel that you are willing/able to donate some amount between $1 and $5, please send me a PM, and I'll send you the email account that my paypal is linked to.
