Went out to the track today 
Had a good fang and tore up the rubber quite nicely.

A few months ago I was having some electrical issues. The bike was not starting, even though the battery was good.
Well, she's doing it again  And the tacho is not working properly. It works, then doesn't work, then works again

I know you guys like to boast about the uncrowded roads down there ... but did you break into the track after closing?

It seems that the roads are that good, with so few people on them that no-one needs/wants/can justify going to the track. Looks like you had fun though.

Unfortunately I can't help you with your electrical problem. Have you also tried posting on the 'Tech' board?

Great video mate... looks like your tacho isnt workin properly.... did you film that with the GOPRO and using the suction cap thingy?? Im a bit scared to use the cup, thought it might fall off but yours look pretty secure (thats if it is the go pro)

I wouldn't think the suction/vaccum cup would hold on at those speeds but then I might be wrong.
I'd say it's a tank mount that bolts into the the fuel cap.

Lovely looking track! It'd be nice to get down there and try it one day. Are there any operators who have hire bikes for this track?

Nice, very nice, looks like you had a lot of fun, check your wiring from the tacho back to the coil you may find that one of your connectors is a wee bit loose.

It was actually a private track day, there was only 6 bikes there.
I hear that the normal Sports Riders Club of Tasmania track days are quite popular with a lot of people bringing their track-bikes along.
For my first track day ever, I was quite impressed. Although I was almost the slowest bike there...

Yes Cakeman, it is a GoPro mounted with the suction cup. I stuck it on the tank, just behind the cap. It's a great view, but did get in my way a little. Without the camera there, I can get down further onto the tank and was hitting around 210 on the back straight!
The sound is pretty crappy as I had the waterproof door on the housing. It would have sounded much better with the open door.

Thanks guys, I'll check earths and tacho wiring. I think it's probably just a loose wire somewhere, as it is an intermittent fault. I went for a ride today and it was fine for a couple of hours, then started doing it again.

mate from that camera looks like you were blasting along quite nicely, especially if you were hitting 210!!! besides, who cares who is the quickest, I reckon as long as you come back in with the biggest  is what counts!

If you look closely, you can see the GoPro mounted on the grab rail under the rear cowl. The footage from there is pretty cool, but I need to get the camera out, further away from the bike. Maybe mounted on a little pole, looking back towards the bike.

Here's some shots of how I mount the camera:

Tank mount - Provides a great view of the road ahead, dash, and my blingy triple    Unfortunately, because of my clip-ons, it doesn't allow me to get right down onto the tank. This is quite annoying on the track, but not so bad on the road (as I'm not riding as hard). It may also prevent me from posting video on the net, as the speedo is right in your face!


Butt-Cam - Named by my friend Eva... Mounted with the "Handle-Bar Clamp".
I thought the footage was pretty cool, but I've been told my arse is a little too prominent in the shot 
When using the non-waterproof housing, the sound is great. Lots of exhaust, with very little wind noise!
If I can extend the arm out further, away from my arse, I reckon the view will be awesome.



Side-Cam - Again with the suction cup mount, which is quite sturdy. As long as the surface your "sucking" it to is smooth and clean, you should be right. I did the "Channel Loop" (approx 2hr road ride) with it mounted here and it didn't fall off.
The shot shows a clear view of the ride ahead, as well as my left hand (clutch action).
Engine noise in this position is not as good as Butt-Cam and there is considerably more wind noise. I might try taping some sponge on the back of the housing next time to muffle the wind.

The track is a bit like our roads. A few potholes and patchy. MA stopped the local ride day club doing track days for a few years until some repairs were made. Started up again last year I think.

I don't know of any track day hire places. Maybe there is a market for it?
