And all others on the turkey bacon is better bandwagon!

http://health.yahoo.net/experts/eatthis/truth-about-your-weight-gain

"Pork bacon's got a bad rap for wreaking havoc on your cholesterol. But is turkey bacon really any better?

The Truth: Stick with the pig. As far as calories go, the difference between “healthy” turkey bacon and “fatty” pig is negligibleâ€"and depending on the slice, turkey might sometimes tip the scales a touch more. Additionally, while turkey is indeed a leaner meat, turkey bacon isn't made from 100 percent bird: One look at the ingredients list will show a long line of suspicious additives and extras that can't possibly add anything of nutritional value. And finally, the sodium content of the turkey bacon is actually higher than what you'll find in the kind that oinksâ€"so if you're worried about your blood pressure, opting for the original version is usually the smarter move."

I read it on the internet.  Therefore, it must be true!

I like the kind that oinks.

Turkey. . .

should not come in bacon form.

Monsterlover

I'll agree to that as well.

I can tolerate turkey in ground chuck form, but it's really not the same as beef.

Let's just face it, turkey is an inferior substitute for cow.

I like turkey as turkey.

On a sandwich, in soup, or on my plate on Thanksgiving or Christmas.

It just doesn't make sense to try to sell it as what it isn't.

This is, once again, proof that the product referred to as "Turkey Bacon" really is neither.

Turkey is fine as turkey.

Bacon only comes from pig.

Thank you for the PSA, Mr. Max.  [thumbsup]
It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

I have a serious hatred of turkeys and no, I don't need any counseling or sensitivity training. Nothing wrong with hating turkeys. Sometimes you earn it and sometimes it just feels right. There. ;D [bacon]

Yes, if I've said it once, I've said it 100 times:

TURKEY BACON IS NEITHER!!!

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it

Deep fried works pretty well too.

IZ can eat what ever floats his boat.

As for me, turkey being sold as something else, I will pass on. But even worse than Turkey (Bacon, burger, fishsticks, chicken, car stereo) is, Tofu and Soy masquerading as meat products.

Drink Coke it's the real thing.

I guess if IZ can't see clearly because of things being out of focus, maybe his taste buds are out of focus too.

THe husband smoked a turkey for Christmas.  He comes back from the grill, and says "I think I smoked the turkey too hard".  Is there such a thing?  The turkey was dark as molasses, and smelled like bacon had been roasting on it.  As we were eating dinner, people kept telling us how good it was and where did we hide the bacon>  it MUST have bacon in it.

Try it.  Smoked turkey without the bacon fat.   [thumbsup]
