Gang,
Riding down to the PI MotoGP in Oct(from Sydney) and looking for some roads to take. Did the Canning Hwy last year via Canberra, but am thinking of going via Tumut, maybe through Wee Jasper, etc. I want to include the Black Spur(Big's suggestion IIRC) run near Melbourne, but am open to suggestions. Any good sections I should try to include ?

Cheers.

Mostro,

Mate, did that trip for WSBK

You need to do the Threadbo - Dead Horse Gap ( Grin) - Coryong - Bright - Hotham - haven'y you done that?

That was awesome! The black spur is definetely the go (did that on the way back), but you may want to make sure you're not there on the w/e, esp around MotoGP time - less traffic and hassles - we waqited a day after all the racing ended before starting off..

Oh yeah, and you will probably want to miss the Brindabella range tour from Yass to Canberra - 50Km of steep dirt - tours conducted at night and include rabbit and roo sightings!

If you want to to the Black Spur and not the great Alpine Way, from Bright, go to the King Valley and then do the Whitfield to Mansfield road which goes over some range, can't remember the name, anyway this will then lead you on to Alexandra and then the Black Spur.

He did _most_ of the NSW bit of that the other way at the Snowy Ride a few years back... I don't think he's a big fan of the runoff on some of those roads.  Grin

Thanks for the suggestions guys ! I have a couple of internationals coming with me, so was hoping to do Deadhorse Gap agan, but the road is closed at that time in October! - Good idea Nick.

OY ! I think I did _all_ of that road - I just decided to test the monster's offroad capability at the same time and discovered that I'm better off on the tarmac!  [moto]
and luckily someone was around to provide tools and knowledge to allow me to finish that road!

Thanks DosVerde - I'll check that route out on Google Maps.

I'll put my name down, but I might not be any real help. I have access to trailer, tie downs etc, but i will be working up until Thursday, which may be useless during the day. but OK in the evenings. I'm located in the inner north of Melbourne.

My current plan for the GP is I have Friday off and will be riding down in the morning to pitch my tent in the campground. Heading back to Melbourne on Monday morning, so I can be around Monday arvo if anyone gets into trouble.

I also work at one of the hospitals, so I better not be seeing any of you there, unless it's for a stomach pumping before heading back north  Tongue

Hey Goldfish,

Feel free to put me on the list.  I have a trailer and some tiedowns and stuff and I work shifts so I'm around at odd hours too.
Only problem is that (according to Spider) if you break down and want me to pick you up you'll need to book 6 months in advance. Grin
I'll probably be heading to the Island on the Friday.

Cheers.

Thanks Bazz, I'm hoping to be in Tassie for a week later this year, but my mate is changing his mind and wants to go see his uncle in Gunnadah, so not sure now. If not, should be next year. At least I might get to see what the Putty Rd and Thunderbolt Way are like.
