wow can't believe they went back to the 80s marlboro dayglow orange color for the bikes and not the ducati red.

that is defeinitely a different looking bike, the whole neon yellow accents basically looks terrible on that bike, but it is the rossi color to it so no way its going away.

1) if marlboro "can't" put their name on the bike, why shouldn't they put their color?

2) the bike will be seen...

3) nicky's bike/leathers don't have the yellow on them, so they'll be easy to tell apart.

4) fwiw, i think the "ducati red"/white scheme has been pretty damn boring since, uh, forever.

i've said if before, i like it (but i might be a bit biased 'cause my personal racebike used to be safety flourescent orange+yellow).

i agree that if marlboro can't put their name on it they might as well go back to the classic 80s dayglow orange that definitely stands out.  i'm surprised they didn't still put the barcode symbol on it as that has become now well known that its marlboro.

like everyone says the dayglow yellow is rossi, so that can't go away.  but it defintely looked better with the yamaha blue when combined.

after seeing other views of the bike the nose of the bike from pics looks like it has been smashed in sort of a blunt nose like a modern honda street bike, it may work for aerodynamics but it looks bad from the side.

intereings with all the comments, wonder how it will do with all the changes for the new year, hopefully they will win more races.

The addition of Rossi as a rider (even a hurt/not 100% Rossi) and his brain trust of Burgess and Co. has to be a winning combo. It's got to help Ducati's MotoGP program across the board. We all hope. Wink Vino!

Does anyone know if the barcode actually reads as anything on a UPC scanner? Might be a little hard to get an F1 car or GP bike up on the grocery store conveyor belt though.

origionally it was the actual barcod on the bottom of a pack of Marlboro Red's....I am sure it has mutated a bit and therefore isn't anymore...but hey...

+1.  While I'm not in love with the new colors, a little variety is welcome.

interesting article, but come on, everyon knew what the barcode stood for in place of if you followed the sport for any amount of time.  was it sort of pseudo subliminal message? of course it was, and it was a genius one at that, to have people associate a red barcode with your brand.

i personally thought it was a sort of cool design element when on the motorcycles, not so much on the f1 cars.

i don't think it ever was a "real" barcode... i tried decoding it when they first used it.

http://www.gomonews.com/ferrari-barcode-labelled-a-subliminal-ad/

GoMo News has conducted a number of tests using popular barcode scanning software from NeoMedia and from Upcode and can confirm that the logo very definitely is not a genuine barcode.

the same group that was making the stink tried to say that red on the ferraris was a marlboro advertisement.

i agree that people that were making a fuss about the general color red on a car were being a bit overboard.

now with the new ducati bikes with no barcodes or even the older red/white chevron on the bikes there is no way to even tell when seeing the bike that its sponsored by marlboro.
