Clip on Handlebars

Just curious about how clip on handlebars ride? I've seen many pics of the mod and i really like the look, they just look incredibly uncomfortable. I would be willing to make this mod in time if I knew that they didnt kill my back.

depends on your body type. You have to try out the different variations before you can say if you hate em or love em.

personally i love them. but mine have significant rise. I wish i could get another 1/2" - 1" of rise out of it, no rise looks the best though!

you can get clipons with a rise.  check out woodcraft.  they make the best ones imo

Clip ons will result in a more forward riding position (except maybe SpeedyMoto Tallboys)

Riser clip ons reduce this effect.

My reason for buying clip ons was that I really needed the changed wrist angles.
After a while I loved the forward position as well.
Straighter wrists and more relaxed elbows - very nice for spirited riding.

If you feel unsafe in city traffic and feel a need to look around you all the time,
maybe a more forward position isn't ideal.

Also, if you like to ride at a moderate pace, enjoying the scenery - chances are that
you don't need to lean further forward and doing so would be meaningless and painful.

The change can be very good, but it's not for everyone.

My bike was far more planted and neutral with the clip-ons. With a straight bar (not the stock one) I can't drop the front in as much, this has caused more fall into the turns and less stabilty at speed.

For spirited riding clip-ons are the way to go, but the sure aren't comfortable.

Clip-ons do not have to mean an uncomfortable ride.  I added clip-ons because the stock handlebar was extremely uncomfortable to me, my hands and wrists were being forced into an unnatural angle, and I didnt want to buy OEM type handlebars by trial and error hoping to find one that suited me.  Some brands of clip-ons have a great amount of adjustability, and as mentioned some have a fair amount of rise.  Here's another link where this is discussed:
