Chop chop!

Got rid of the only part of the bike I disliked today, yep that ugly beer shelf. I bought a tail tidy from ducatimonstertailchop.com and the service from them was great. There was a problem with my Paypal account but Ty responded to my emails immediately and the problem was sorted. The product arrived within a week (I live in France) and just like it said on the box, it only took 15 minutes to install. I know it's subjective and some on here don't like the chopped look but I love it. I'm also aware that I might get a bit wetter than usual sometimes (I have chopped the tail on other bikes) but I don't care, if I did I would be driving a car! I LOVE it.

Mine is not chopped.  I do like the look of a well chopped tail, problem is I hate swamp ass.

Paulel you have a nice bike! Is that an HDR photo of it? I put off chopping the tail on mine for around 3 years after I had bought a CW tailchop kit. Just sat in the box whilst I argued with myself. Something about the chopping of something I spent so much money on made me nervous. So I took baby steps. I had the tailchop bracket powdercoated black, and then put it back in the box for another year or so. Then I got bored and just chopped it. It now looks as though it was like that from the factory.
Swamp ass is avoidable; just don't ride in the rain or anytime directly after. I'm a fairweather Ducatista anyway. I like my bike to be clean for the most part or I don't like to be seen on it. Riding in the rain is zero fun, it's unsafe, uncomfortable and makes the bike dirty and subsequent cleanup a bigger hassle. Also promotes corrosion and electrical problems. Rain riders think they're all hardcore and manly but I've always thought that was a load of shit. Riding in the rain does nothing for me so I don't fear swamp ass so much. Getting caught out in it is a non-issue for me as well, because I can pay attention to weather forecasts. You know, doppler radar and all that sheeit.

I'll give it to ya on the dirty and corrosion issue. But the rest is you trying to pass off your opinion as fact. I have more miles in the rain than not (the joy of living in Seattle). Rain is no problem if you have the right gear...and it's still fun.

Thank goodness we are all different is all I have to say, it would be a very boring world if we were all the same.

Regarding swampass, as I said in my original post, if I was worried about getting wet I would drive a car.

Good for you. It's practical when the weather supports it. However in a downpour I reach for the car keys instead, or grab an umbrella and use public transpo. Just too many good reasons to not ride in the wet. Riding in the rain is a diminished return. In any event, if you do ride in the rain swamp ass is the least of your problems. Yer gonna get wet all over.

Swamp ass isnt just in the rain ,its also post rain, like right now ish. After being hit with all taht snow, its just water everywhere and i dont like riding cause my ass gets wet. it sucks.

I suppose then you're just gonna have to ride the bike and get wet
I'd still be trying to find a way to stay dry though. I suppose one could engineer a way to fit the tray back on temporarily to catch the fling but the rest of you will need a drysuit.

Bing! New product idea. A plastic mudflap thingamabobber that doesn't require refitting the turnsignals every time it rains, just snaps into the chopped frame ends. Somebody has to have already thought of it.
