A Most Magnificent Monster

« on: January 15, 2011, 12:45:28 PM »

Wheeler Canyon Road has been recently resurfaced and it is amazing!  I liked the road before, but it was rough as a cob and not at all pleasant to ride on.  Now it's a roller coaster!  Not quite as twisty as The Snake...similar to Latigo I'd say.  It dead-ends after 4 miles or so, but you just turn around and do it again.  Was through there today in the wagon and there is gravel on many of the corners, but that should clean up after another few weeks.  Highly recommended if you are heading out to the 33 or Ventura in general...it's worth the detour.  Another dead end road in the area is Aliso Canyon Road, but I dont know if it has been resurfaced (will check it out tomorrow).

From the 126, exit at Peck Road, head north, up the hill to Foothill Road, and turn left.  Wheeler is about 3-4 mile on the left.  Continue a little further on Foothill and you come to Aliso.
