MONSTER PROBLEM
«
on:
January 16, 2011, 06:44:57 AM »
I'm thinking about buying a brand new monster but I'm quite confused on which model is better. I like the Monster 1100s because of the Ohlins fork and I'm a dry clutch fan but i also have my eyes on the new 1100 evo because it is something new and it has ABS. The price I believe is more or less the same for the 2009 1100S and 2011 1100 evo. Any thoughts on this guys? What are the pros and cons of each model and which is better? Hope you can help me decide. TIA.

They're both very good bikes.
Depending on how hard you ride - Öhlins for performance, ABS for safety (especially wet).
The exhaust is different - personal preference....
Buy what you like most. Don't know which that is?
Flip a coin once.
If the result makes you want best of three - choose the other.
Either way, you'll be very very far from doing something wrong [moto]

I bet you could get a real good deal on the S if you tried.

Guys i have a problem with my monster 1100s, everytime i drive through a bumpy road i hear a sound. But if the concrete surface is smooth no problem, any thoughts on this? What part of the bike should I check? Any way of tightening the triple tree clamp? OR is my suspension too soft? I'm worried something might be loose. And the dealership is too far away. And another thing, how do you adjust the ohlins fork? where should i position the s - h?
Hi, Ralph. I'm confused. When I first read the post I thought like the others who answered that you were debating which bike, but looking at history it looks like you have an S but are debating trading it in for something newer?
before swapping bikes I'd suggest having someone experienced help set up your suspension for/with you. Suggestion 2 would be a track class. Those two things will increase riding pleasure tremendously... and help you decide what YOU want out of this or your next bike.
and welcome to the DMF.

it would be far easier/cheaper to upgrade forks than to upgrade to ABS down the road.

Yup, i'm currently driving an 1100s, bought it used and i'm thinking about purchasing a brand new bike (maintenance wise) but i'm debating whether i should get the 1100s or the newer 1100 evo.. both are very nice monsters but are quite different in a way.

Sorry you got confused with my question sir, my bad.. I'm currently driving the S model (bought it used) and i want to trade it in to a newer, brand new model but i'm confused whether to get the S or the newer EVO model.. Both are great bikes but both have different features (exhaust, clutch, pegs, ABS ,fork) quite confusing to whether which on is the better choice..
thanks for the warm welcome sir

So instead of doing mainenance on your bike you just want to get a new one of the same model? I wish I had your problems.

the problem is the dealer is very far from our place, i have to ship the bike just to have it checked. I think i can save more if i trade it in to a brand new bike ducnaked

1100s or evo?.. What a lovely problem to have... If im not mistaken the evo has the traction control as well. Hope this helps you In making your decision.
