I had my court date for an illegal left turn today.  The ticket was May 2010.  I postponed (and by doing so unwittingly forfeited my right to a trial by written declaration -- big mistake), did my arraignment, etc and finally had my time in court.

Out of 30-ish defendants that showed up, about 25 of them were automatically dismissed because the officer did not show up.  I was one of the 5-ish cases that were going to be heard.

The first case, the defendant did not show, so the officer gave a statement and the person was found guilty.

The second case, the defendant had the same citing officer that I did.  The officer gave a statement, the defendant countered, the judge sided with the defendant, even though he didn't really provide any evidence of anything.  The guy had been cited for jaywalking - -the cop said he crossed against a light and outside the crosswalk.  The guy said he didn't cross against the signal and had only avoided the crosswalk because the officer had pulled someone over right there.  The judge dismissed the citation.  The cop was angry.  Visibly fuming.

Then it was my turn, with the same cop.  I didn't like that he had just been provoked, as I suspected he was going to go out of his way to stick it to me.  As I approached, the officer turned and looked at me and said "Your honor, in light of what just happened, I don't remember the details of this case.  We'll have to dismiss him, too."     I guess it was his way of telling hte judge he didn't like her decision.

And with that, my ticket was dismissed.  I now have about 4 years of a squeaky clean record, and should started getting good driver discounts, etc, etc.  Oh, PTL.  PTL.

It is possible he thought I was cute.  He seemed "bear-like" and we all know I am "cub-like."

I was only wearing my orange wristband.  Which stays on until I win a class championship.

In Tigre's world getting butt-luvin' in a parking lot from a cop is a HUGE benefit.  Ya know what he normally spends each month for that sorta treatment?
