well, after the incident in this thread:

http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=46051.0

i've decided to toss on a bike cover onto the bike for the winter at least... should make it a bit more discouraging for people to mess around with it...

I'll probably get the nelson rigg deluxe all season cover, but i'm not sure which size to get... i've read quite a few pages in, and searches for another with the word "cover" tends to bring up every possible listing except a bike cover...

anyone happen to know offhand which size is best?

the  problem with the stock mirrors on the 796 makes finding a cover difficult

to get one that is snug (to avoid wind ripping it off and/or tossing the bike over) and that doesn't break the mirrors.

to that end, best recommendation is the Ducati cover designed for it.

Isn't your bike in a garage?
If it is, a simple dust cover can be enough.

Personally I won't get a Ducati cover.
I'm a little afraid it will attract unwanted attention.

thanks for the replies, and i got rid of the stock mirrors for some ebay rizoma reverse retro knock off's...  and yeah, i dont want to have the brand of the bike plastered over the cover  [bang]... even my msf instructor made sure to point that out to the class when he advised us on what to look into for accessories.

i'm would be fine with a dust cover too, it's just that i have no idea which to get... and that nelson rigg one seemed to be a pretty solid price point for one.  i'm just unsure if the monster is considered a medium or a large...  sizes are listed as:

# Medium fits: 125-600cc Standards without windshield or accessories, and Sport Bikes
# Large fits: 250-600cc Standards with windshield and accessories, and larger Sport Bikes

was hoping someone here had one too so they had from FHE on the fitting

This guy will make one for you out of thick black polyfleece. It will protect your bike from inadvertent brush-againsters and sloppy drunks flailing car keys and throwing beer cans, it's breatheable, soft, thick, and doesn't stoke curiosity. Completely covers the bike from the ground up with no inkling of what's underneath. I have one and love the thing. You will need to go out with a tape measure and note its dimensions. It's a fitted cover, so the front will be wider than the rear, etc.
Might cost a bit more but worth it for sure, especially in a communal parking garage. Those thin nylon covers just don't pass the test with me.

almost any medium or sportbike cover will fit, usually the large covers are for really large bike and the 796 is nowhere near a large bike.

just get something like a dowco or something that is made for sport bikes, but not "large sportbikes" or touring bike or else you will have a cover that is way too baggy.

Veloce-Fino

DOWCO, sure it's an all weather but why pay the same/more for an indoor only cover?

The top three have loops for using a chain/wire lock to discourage vandals or thieves. Works great in the garage and is of course "weather proof." To be honest, so far the cover really has been weather proof. Even in the insane april thunderstorms with high winds in my area the bike has never gotten wet. The sinch strap keeps the cover from parachuting or ballooning in high winds as well.

I bought this.

Is this thing on?

thanks for the replies guys, and i just put in a order for that nelson rigg in medium... at around $40 shipped and being all weather, it seemed to be the best option for the money.
