the pipe is the shortform of 'crackpipe', the makeshift device one uses to smoke crack cocaine with. Crack cocaine is cocaine that has been cooked up with baking soda or a weaker base, some water, a spoon and a candle or lighter.

you might know 'crack' better as rock or base.

The " Pipe "  to me refers to a Hash Pipe for smoking Hashish or Marijuana.
