I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

years ago The British Merchant marine used to get a very generous rum ration. If you worked on Shell Tankers you got a huge rum ration every Sunday .The reason they got such a large ration was it was paid for by the Dutch Royal Family. After the Germans invaded Holland there was no way for the royal family to get out.A British Shell tanker snuck into Holland one dark night and lifted the entire Dutch Royal Family out and in return the King of Holland made sure that every single officer and rating on every single Shell Tanker that was British Flag was compensated for their deeds. This is just one example of the courage of the British Merchant Fleet. More British Seafarers were killed lost at sea ,injured etc than Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force combined in WW2. Brave men working and living in terrible conditions. At one point Shell Tankers UK Ltd owned or operated 12% of the world's tanker fleet and had over 140 ships British Flag sailing at any given time. There was a book I recieved from Shell( I was a seafarer for them for a few years) called Sea Shell a hundred year history 1892-1992 of Shell UK tanker fleet. In the forward written by the First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir Julian Oswald, GCB,ADC (head of the British Royal Navy) he says"On numerous occassions we have learned from Shell's sailors.Technical developmentsin Shell's tankers have frequently found practical applications in Her Majesty's Ships, so to have Shell's working practices, especially in the fields of personal and environmental safety.Today I am happy to say that the relationship between the two fleets remains one of mutual respect and whether we sail under the White Ensign or the Red, we recognise the highest standards of professional seafaring. This book is a tribute to all Shell Sailors past and present. I gladly salute them and commend their story to you"
Two British Shell Tankers were mined in Nhatrang and sunk in Vietnam while delivering Jet Fuel. They were the Amastra and the Helisoma. No loss of life, cargo's delivered ships repaired and being British they did all this with a stiff upper lip and a cup of tea.if you find this book read about the exploits of the San Demetrio  and the San Ernesto and an incredibly brave and lucky man by the name of Capt George Waite. His ship sunk by a Japanese Submarine and he got his crew to safety in the maldives 900 miles away in a lifeboat......
Thats a day in the life of a professional seafarer.
I highly recomend this book its By Stephen Howarth.Lots of quality pictures. Published by Thomas and Reed.
