Seriously?? 33k for a motorized mountain bike.....I'll pass.
... But to go that fast and have a motor, wouldn't that require a license?

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, this is the War Room.

There is nothing noble in being superior to some other man.  The true nobility is in being superior to your previous self. And in bacon.

73lbs - it's a boat anchor! [thumbsdown]

I'd rather the cool PG Bikes Blacktrail carbon fiber electric bicycle I saw on Jay Leno's Garage. Almost 100% carbon, 44lbs, 62mph. Slays the Beast.

for 33 grand you could buy a fleet of these

I wouldn't consider IT a motorcycle....but I guess like an earlier poster pointed out " motor + cycle =  motorcycle. "

Stew-Pid. Add this to the thread 'craigslist adds on crack'. You'd have to be an IDIOT to pay $33k for that.

I think this bike would qualify as the "I am too lazy to pedal my own bicycle, but I am too scared to ride a real motorcycle"-type vehicle.

I love bicycles and motorcycles; however- if I am going to pay over $30K- it better be a brand-new, super-duper fast, upper-end Ducati with bling. I am not above paying $10K for a race bicycle, but not for daily transportation.

I am not sold on all this electric vehicle crap, mainly due to the fact that the batteries are pretty hard to dispose. Also, the source of energy is just shifted from fossil fuels to coal.
Mad, bad, and dangerous to know.

I think we can all agree that the current MSRP is a little outrageous, but what do you think is reasonable?

I think this bike looks cool and is an interesting concept and might pay 4 or 5 grand for one.

rideserotta

My Serotta road bike costs me $6,000 new. And I built it up myself. Looking back that was ridiculous but seemed to make sense at the time. I've put about 30k miles on it (rebuilt the most of the campy drive train, same Mavic K rims, multiple chains) and it has never let me down. I'll have it til I die.

This monstrosity is a fad. I'd never pay $5-6k for something that will break often (that motor will not last) and be impossible to find parts for down the road. I honestly wouldn't buy it at any price unless I could flip it and make a few bucks.

Bike OR motorcycle but not a morph of both.

If we're ignoring the stupid price tag, the problem with something like this is that it looks like a bicycle so you feel like an idiot wearing enough protection to keep yourself covered at the max speeds (45mph).

Considering that every part of that thing is from a bike store shelf minus the motor its actual title should be motorized mountain bike.  And even then most trails and parks don't allow motorized vehicles on the trails and its too slow for motocross. so its a ride with out a home.

in terms of electric motorcycles, the only one i consider a true one are these:

http://www.brammo.com/store/brammo-empulse/

has all the stats of a real bike... and i think the styling is alright too... cept the back end.  that has got to go, doesnt fit the slim look of the rest of the bike in anyway.

you could get 1 of each for about the same price as the mountain bike the OP linked to!
