Sex has big opening Down Under

THE Sex and the City movie took almost $9.5 million over the weekend in Australia to make it the biggest opening for a romantic comedy Down Under.

Showing at 452 screens nationally, Sex and the City raked in $9,498,751 over the Queen's Birthday long weekend, pushing Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull from the top spot.

It was the biggest ever opening weekend for an MA15+ film in Australia, distributor Roadshow said.

The movie is based on the hit television series of the same name starring Sarah Jessica Parker as Manhattan magazine columnist and fashion icon next door Carrie Bradshaw.

Carrie and her three best friends - Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha - are all picking up their lives where they left off when the TV show went off the air in 2004. blah blah blah blah blah blah
