G2 Throttle Tamer

Just installed a G2 Throttle Tamer onto my 04 620ie and I am extremely impressed with the change in throttle response.  During my brief shakedown ride, every roll on/off was buttery smooth.  Gone is the light switch input of the stock unit. 



Having ridden with the normal cam for about a year, I felt my throttle control was decently smooth, but every now and then, I'd have a sharp, unintentional input.  Mid-turn, things sometimes got a little sketchy.  With this new throttle cam shape, inputs are much more precise and deliberate.  Honestly, in the five minute ride around the neighborhood, I was drawing the smoothest turns I've experienced on this bike.  Highly recommended.

Installed my G-2 with the 300 cam a few months ago- amazing how it makes your throttle inputs as smooth as you thought you were capable of! . Now that I have that mod along with a throttle lock, the longer trips will be mucho more enjoyable...

High recommendatons from me, I was going to put a 14t sprocket on my S4 but after installing the G2 I do not think I will.  In that respect is is also inexpensive.

Interesting. I'd be interested in seeing the "quicker" responsed version after it comes out.

I have mine on order, and should arrive before the end of the week. Too bad I wont see temps above 45 for probably another month. All of the remarks are making me glad I did.

Here are my thoughts from driving around for a week with the tamer:

1.  Initial go is definitely smoother.  I'm leaving from a stop without any head lash, and changes in throttle input midcorner are much more precise.  The controlled roll ons/off during cornering are most appreciated.

2.  It takes a big turn of the wrist to finally hit some power delivery.  My next buy will be a new cam for the throttle body to shorten the distance to WOT.  I'll try ordering the Electraeon next month.

+1.  I mean, I think the Electraeon is great, and looks trick (since it does peek out from behind the frame), but doesn't G2 have the quicker turning version?

620ie.  I did see the quicker turning cams and suppose that might be an option, but for now, G2 Ergo does not list Ducati as a make on their cam page:

My Throttle Tamer came with a detachable cam, so I imagine they might be available.  Could be as simple as giving them a call.

The Electraeon has the added benefit of reaching WOT at 75% turn, something not available by switching cams.

I have an ER Racing Quick-Turn Throttle on my M900. (I got it through SportBike Track Gear, but its also available through Yoyodyne) - It came with three cams, so you could pick how ridiculous the throttle turn was. The fastest cam is 0% to WTFO in about 25-40 degrees of rotation. We are talking, crack the wrist a little bit and you are at 50%, a little further and you are wide the make the beast with two backs open.

when i went to different clipon positions, the original cables proved crazy long, and weren't the right end fittings for Keihin FCR carbs. I called up Motion Pro (or emailed 'em, can't remember which) but they make custom cables, and they made up a set for me. They worked great!

What I learned was, they make their own multi-cam quick turn throttle. (well hell. there's an easier option peaking out at me - get it all at one place).

So you might consider seeing if they do the single-pull cable like you have on the 620 for the multi-cam throttles. (The M900 and SBKs run the push-pull two cable set up).

You may not need a new G2 cam, just some jbweld or marine-tex.  You can change the profile of the cam to speed up the WOT.  Make sure you measure the clearance for the cable in the throttle housing and not increase the radius enough to rub.
